Talk to me about pads and the pill!!!

I know this has been discussed many times here on the board and I swear I was paying attention...I just don't remember!  What are your favorite post delivery pads? I can't even remember what I used after Matt Matt. All I know is I need something that WORKS!!! I tend to bleed fairly heavily the first two and a half weeks after. What did you use in the hospital? I've always just used whatever they provided but honestly those diaper like pads are a PITA and the lovely little, oft too small mesh panties are just such a joy! LOL!

Also, for those of you who are on the pill...which one and what were your reasons for choosing it? I know quite a few were doing the mini-pill, do you plan to switch to something else once you stop breastfeeding? We've always just used condoms and they've never failed us but honestly I think we're both done with them. They make me feel like some sort of horny teenager in some way or another. Embarrassed We are preeeeeetty sure this is our last so I wanna make sure I get something effective and trusted and I knew there was no better place to ask than you ladies!

Sorry so long. Geez! TIA for any info/advice you gals have for me!

  • I can't believe you are 33 weeks already!!!  Wahoo!

I don't have any advice for the pill as I've not been on since I had Ashton, but for the pads, I really like the Always Infinity.  I used those with Ashton and didn't have any issues. I don't think I bleed too heavy though.

I second Always Infinity.  I bled fairly heavily so I used the Always Infinity Overnights (they have an orange wrapper).  I bled for I think 4-5 weeks and they worked perfectly for me.

I have no input on the pill as I still haven't started the pill since R was born.  I might not get back on the pill until after LO #2...we will see ;)

I third Always Infinity!  And I did go back on the pill after LB was born, but they had to change the type b/c I developed more heavy bleeding and it seemed to be related to the pill.  ETA: I was on a tricyclic one, and they put me on one that had the same dose all 3 weeks rather than different doses - however they work - it was a generic for orthotricyclen (sp?) called trilevlen and now it's just levlen.  (don't quote me on the spellings)

  • Another vote for Always Infinity!  They are paper thin and get the job done, 'nuff said ;)

  • I HATE wearing pads and can honestly say I was totally dreading PP and having to wear them. Then I discovered Always Infinity Overnights and ZOMG...so awesome (if you have to wear pads, KWIM)! They're pricier but SO worth it!

As for the pill, I was on Yaz before TTC Libby...I liked it...I didn't gain weight at all on it and it calmed down my hormonal acne and even my PMDD. But, since then I've ready it has caused gall bladder issues and it makes me wonder if that's when my started...

Anway, if I remember correctly, you had your gall bladder out after HB was born, so if that's the case, it could be a good fit for you. Another option you might consider is Mirena...some girls here use it and can tell you more about it.

So excited for you...your lil' cupcake is almost fully baked! :-)

  • I also went with Always Infinity, although I wish I hadn't bought so much!  I barely had any bleeding when I got home from the hospital, but I wonder if it's because I had a c/s?

I am on the Mini Pill (Camila--prescribed by my OB/GYN), which does not contain estrogen and is compatible with BF.  My OB/GYN said that once I stop BF, I need to let her know right away so she can put me back on regular BCP.  The Mini Pill doesn't always prevent ovulation (depends on the dosage) and you really need to take it at the exact same time every day for it to be effective.  My doctor also told my that my periods will be unpredictable while on the MP since, unlike regular BCP, there is no "off" week of pills that initiates your period.
