Have any of you taken Provera to "jump start" your period? Can you tell me about your experience with it? Any insight will be much appreciated - thanks!
I have taken it in the past for PCOS. It made me crazy hormonal, very weepy, edgy. You usually take it for 10 days. It is normal for your period to start within a day or so of the last pill. I even started before the last pill in the past. That's all normal. It doesn't work for everyone, but for most people it has the intended effect. Sometimes it's all need to jump start your body back to normal cycles. If it doesn't they'll probably do more blood work to find the underlying cause. HTH

I think that it will really depend on your situation. I would have to take Provera if I hadn't had a period in 3 months. It was like a normal period length wise, but the bleeding was super heavy. If it has been less time than that, you might have less bleeding.
And sorry I didn't mention it before, but I am very sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing ok. I can't imagine what you are going through. :::hugs to you::

I have taken this many, many times since I do not ovulate regularly. It is simple. Just be sure to take it before you go to bed. I tended to get a little loopy on it. After the 10 day cycle is finished, you will usually get your AF a day or two later. There were times where I actually got it before I finidshed the pills. I never had bad PMS symptoms from it.
I little warning though.......please make sure you take a pregnancy test first. Preferably a blood test. I ended up conceiving just a day or two prior to starting provera. It can cause birth defects and I strongly believe that was part of the reason I lost my boy at 20 weeks. We had placenta problems from the very beginning and our LO had some organ issues. The doctors will not give me a definite answer on whether this caused it, but in my heart I think it was.
So....please don't be like me. I was ignorant in the fact that I was trying to conceive when starting the pack. The doctor neglected to tell me the complications that can arise.

Hi there, I am on my fourth day of Provera right now. I had a D&C after a miscarriage at 10 weeks (this was in november), they did not get all the tissue which caused abnormal bleeding that was after months diagnosed as leftover "retained products of conception". I then had another D&C in February. Because the tissue was left in so long it became adherent, so I ultimately had to have a hysteroscopy in April to remove the tissue-I am told it was completely removed, but still have not gotten my period, hence being on my 4th day of provera-It has been so long since I had a real period-I am terrified of what lies ahead (but I welcome it with open arms, I am desperate to have this ordeal over!!!). I had a miscarriage last June (delivered at 24 weeks) and I feel like this last one has been SO much worse in many ways. I'll message you as things go along with my experience on Provera (and feel free to do the same thing). So far I have not had many bad side effects-some dizziness/spaciness in the first few hours after taking it, and then that passes, I do feel a little emotional, but not really bad-GOOD LUCK!!!
