What are you gals using for bug repellent.  I try to avoid putting anything on, but the mosquitoes have been awful lately.  I was desperate this weekend and used Buzz Away, which is a natural repellent that has citronella and cedarwood and other essential oils, some of which are not recommended for pregnant women.  So I'm looking for something safer.  I may try Listerine next!

My doc just said no Deet.  I used OFF this last weekend.

I think as long as it doesnt contain DEET that its ok in moderation, try using a lotion bug repellant as the aerosol one may be more able to be inhaled? Im not too sure. You can also try rubbing a orange peel on you as the citrus smell is suppose to repell them and its definitly natural. If you lived where i live even bug spray doesnt stop the damn things.. they will bite if they want to no matter what

I hate having anything on me when I don't have to. We just bought these $4 bags from Walmart that you hang in the yard. They have ones for flies and mosquitoes I think.

I use California Baby because that is what I use on DD and I usually just spray a little on me also.  It is in the baby section at Target.

Skin So Soft from Avon works really well and it smells good and makes your skin feel nice! I put in on the belly after the shower lol

I bought a natural repellant with cedarwood, tea tree and lemon essential oils. Its basically a $10 1.5 oz spray bottle of water...would not reccomend.

I'm considering buying a couple of those "bug bands" you clip on your shorts...does anyone know if they work??

I found something at Wal Mart from "Cutter" brand.  It is all natural, and is Lemongrass (I believe).  My husband and I took it to a picnic with us, and used it, and it worked well for us!  Plus everyone around us was asking to use some since it was all natural!  I had tried Skin So Soft from Avon, but it doesn't work for me.  People are right, just nothing with DEET in it, but thats not easy to find.  Good luck!

My doc said to avoid DEET and the sprays.  She said lotions, particularly the ones that you would use on a baby or children are the best for expecting moms.

What bug spray doesn't have deet? I finally broke down and used one with a low level...like 7%....deet this weekend because I can't find a deet free one anywhere. I get bit HORRIBLY and had 52...I had my husband count them....mosquito bites after a night at the drivein theater. The pediatricians i work for reccomend bug sprays with deet content with less than 12% for the babies so I figured it wouldn't be the worst thing I could do.

I used one this past weekend from Repel (Coleman also has a similar one) with the main ingredient of Lemon Eucalyptus Oil.  It was the first time I got ZERO bites while watching fireworks.  Normally I use the Off Skintastic stuff and get eaten alive.  I plan to keep using this one even after I have the baby.

Just be careful with this... I read that tea tree oil can be dangerous in pregnancy. I've tried to stay away from it.
