Babies R Us - Multiples Discount (response from cust. svc.)

After seeing the inconsistency with which we all experienced the multiples discount at our local BRU stores, I wanted to get clarification before making any more purchases/adding to my registry there.  Below is the official response I received - hope it helps clarify for others:

I would like to apologize on behalf of Babies "R" Us for any difficulties you encountered with your request as well as at the store level. Unfortunately, at this time we do not offer a multiple discount at Babiesrus.com, however, we are pleased to let you know that we do offer this at our land based Babies "R" Us Stores. We offer 10% off two or more of the same item purchased in the same order (for example two cribs, two bedding sets, 2 strollers, etc.) The discount pertains to the following categories only: furniture, bedding sets and baby gear (this offer is not available on special purchase items). Baby Gear includes car seats, strollers, travel yards, high chairs, swings, gates, exersaucers/walkers, and
backpack/carriers. For additional information, please contact your nearest Babies "R" Us store. Congratulations on your new bundles of joy and we look forward to serving you! "

This is the 103rd reason I cannot stand BRU.  I quit shopping there a long time ago.  Amazon.com offers all that they do and more for cheaper prices and free shipping.

Also if they are having a sale that is online only - just go to the store and they will order the item(s) for you and get you the discount.  I just did this two weeks ago for the DiVinci cribs w/free mattress event that was an online only promo.  My local BRU was very helpful and got me the discount.

The nearest BRU is an hour and half from me, so I have to take in consideration gas mileage spent vs the discount..

FYI-

There is a Toys R Us with a limited baby department a little closer. I was told the other day when I stopped in that their stores do not offer this discount - it is specific to BRU, even if you are buying the above mentioned items in her letter from a TRU. ( But I was told the rewards points are the same?!?)

That's so odd because I just ordered covertible carseats online (well, called and spoke to customer service so i could get the discount) and she actually was the one to first mention that i would get the mutilples discount. they obviously dont have a clue what they are doing.
