Cloth Diapering

Calmoseptine and CDs - WWYD

Anyone know if I can use calmoseptine on DS's bum in cloth?  He has a horrible rash from pretty much pooping constantly.  I tried CJs before it got bad, but it didn't help.  The pedi wants me to use calmoseptine which I've had good luck with on DD's red bottom when she was in dipes, but I switched to sposies.  DS is in sposies now and I HATE them.  Plus, I've only bought 2 packs and I don't like spending the money.  Should I just let it go and use the sposies or should I maybe try some disposable liners?

Sorry so many questions!  I just need help making a decision.

  • Def. not cloth diaper safe at all.  I love that stuff for really bad rashes, but it will not come out of your diapers easily, if at all.  If you want to use it in cloth, I'd use 2 fleece liners.  I learned the hard way that it will go through one, and disposable liners won't cut it either.  Then wash the liner separately from the rest of your diapers.

  • Thanks for the info.  Maybe I'll just keep him in sposies until his bum heals.  Sad  I don't think I want to try to make enough fleece liners to line that many diapers a day.  I have to change him pretty frequently to make sure he's not sitting in poop.

  • I have no experience with that cream but once you're done with treatment, you can head off future problems with aveno rash cream. You still have to use a liner, but you might be able to get away with a disposable one if you go light with the cream. Honestly though, it cost me about $1.50 for more liners than I have diapers by getting a fleece remnant from walmart, so I don't have to worry about the amount of cream I use. My DD isn't going as much as your son anymore, but she is still going quite a bit and isn't being consistent about not going in her sleep so she's prone to rashes lately, if I don't use the cream. Good luck!
