Should I call my OB?

I am so not an over-worrier when it comes to me, so I want to know what others think.

I have started bleeding bright red, with small clots. A lot of blood. It started slowly, after I did a walk/jog workout Tuesday evening. I am in no pain and feel totally normal. I do not think it is a period, I am EBF, although I imagine anythingis possible.

I stopped PP bleeding a few weeks ago, and at 6w OB check up I was told I was healed and cleared for everything. Doc also said to expect some breakthrough bleeding since I am EBF - said it is not unusual.

So how do I know if this warrants a call or is just nothing?!? Like I said, I amalways hesitant to call doctors for me. Thoughts?

Re: Should I call my OB?

  • I would call.

It could be nothing, but better safe than sorry!

  • I was still bleeding at my 6wk check up but was still cleared for everything because he said it all looked good and if it was still bleeding by 8 weeks to call but then it stopped at 7 weeks, and then a couple days later there was  A LOT of blood with small clots, I am almost certain it is a period because it is starting to get less and less, so if you aren't crazy concerned I'd see in a couple days what it looks like and if it's the same then call, but it very much could be a period especially if you didn't change your routine and it just suddenly started after a walk. But then again.. calling never hurt anyone and you don't have anything to lose...
  • I'm guessing it's your period but call if you are worried.

  • Thanks for the input. Seems silly that I wanted input, but I just wanted to know what others thought, on if it felt worrisome. I don't have a lot of perspecitive when it comes to me calling the doctor for myself.

I am going to give it a few days to see what happens, since I feel fine and am not in any pain or discomfort. I will assume it is my period, unless something changes. That sucks - I didn't get it back with DD1 for MONTHS and MONTHS.

I didn't get it until 6 months with my daughter and I've already been having spotting this time.  I'll be kind of pissed if I get my period this early.

Are you about 6 weeks post partum? I had period like bleeding for a week then and it went away. I googled it, and it seemed pretty common at 6 weeks. I didn't call about it, but I wasn't passing clots. That might warrant a call to the doctor.
  • I have had the same thing happen since about 4 weeks post partum, and it is still going on at 6 weeks.  My mother and DH are screaming at me to call the doctor, but I hate calling the doctor.  It also started after exercising.

My 6 week appointment is late due to my specific OB being on vacation, so it isn't until the 18th.  Ive been trying to wait it out but not sure if DH will let me.

If you call, let me know!
