And my Director let us all go home for the day, too I guess pulling weeds in 101* weather in dog runs will earn you the afternoon off
I worked in the puppy room first---all of the puppies that were just brought in and are quarantined awaiting their Parvo testing. OMG. So damn cute. Luckily I could resist..maybe because they were all mostly covered in poop and the room smelled AWFUL. They were precious, though.
Then I helped to clean out the regular kennels with the normal dogs..and I found one that looks *almost* identical to my Wrigley! If you remember MrsP and her dog Higgins, he looks identical to Higgins. It broke my heart. He's been there way, way too long. And DH and I always talked about having a Wrigley [DH is a Cubs fan] and a Turner [I'm a Braves fan]..and he's the perfect Turner.
But he's only a year old, insanely hyper and, well, I already have 3 dogs. So, for now, I'm resisting.
Then I went out into the outdoor runs and pulled weeds. HOT! And then I came home. I'm going TV shopping soon
Oh, and get this, while we were there a woman brought in a litter of puppies and the momma..said it was her neighbor's dog and she's previously brought in the four other litters the dog had. Today was the first time she was able to grab momma so she brought them all in. She said the owner just ignored the dog, the puppies and a few of the pups always die. The momma must have been an outdoor dog because the tips of both of her ears were totally eaten off by bugs. It was horrific.
So I'm going to hug my doggies tight and be so thankful and happy that DH and I were able to save our two rescues and give all three of them happy, healthy lives.
And I'll also consider quitting my job to either get a job at the humane society or to volunteer full time.

poor doggies, it's so sad.
if you worked there it would be harder and harder to resist bringing them home but it would be rewarding
