Providence Midwives

Hi ladies,

anybody have experience with the Providence Midwives in Everett? I used an OB with my 1st & want to do things differently this time. I plan for a natural birth & probably hiring a doula. Just curious what you think of the midwives & if you have any general thoughts/comments on that particular group?

I did check into Puget Sound Birth Center & the midwives there, but it's just too inconvenient for me since I live in Mill Creek & work downtown Seattle...

Thanks!

Re: Providence Midwives

  • I did and I loved them! I am sad I won't get to see them any more after my 6 week check up. They were totally supportive of natural birth, not surprisingly, loved that I had a doula, answered all my questions, and were just great all around. I have given birth twice at Prov and had a great experience both times.

Great! I had my 1st at Prov as well. Out of curiosity, which doula did you use? I'm in the process of trying to select one.

  • I asked the same question a while back. Here is a link to that thread, and a link to another thread regarding the Providence midwives. There is lots of great info, specifically from braveangel, so I thought I'd pass it along.

I had my preconception appointment with them in March and had a wonderful experience.

I used Alyssa Morgan for both births and love her. Her website is www.seattledoulagirl.com

Thank you! this was very helpful. I went ahead & cancelled my OB appointments & made one with the midwife. I am excited!

  • I'm late to the party, but my whole family adores the midwives at Providence! They were great during our second pregnancy (I had a horrible experience with the local birth center when we had a miscarriage with our first). I'm so happy to be using them again, and I highly recommend them to everyone. It's easy having everyone - midwives, radiology, triage and womens pavilion all in the same place. It's even better since they've moved the emergency room to the new building. I will point out that there are some differences between a midwife at a hospital and one who attends birth center births and one who attends home births. But I was comfortable with the differences, and I felt right at home using them. That was one of my big questions. That and how do they handle miscarriages because of my previous horrible experience. They passed that one too. We've started bringing our 2.5 year-old daughter with us, and they are so nice to her. They don't just ignore in the appointment and she has fun, so I like the atmosphere also. Now if they'd only get comfortable lobby chairs, it would be perfect :)
