Scales that measure body fat NOT okay???

Just read that scales that measure body fat are not safe while pregnant...something about them using an electrical current that could be harmful to baby.  I was not aware of this and had been using one to monitor weight my entire pregnancy.  Have you heard this?  Do you use them?

The electrical current in the body fat scale is very small, so it's doubtful that this could harm a fetus unless you use it several times a day, if then.  That being said, they haven't been around that long so extensive research has probably not been done.  I would not use it.  The body fat reading will not be accurate anyway during pregnancy.

Don't feel bad!  I have been using one too.  I now jump off before it takes my body fat %.  My lo is fine!!  I wouldn't be too worried.

I just wear my socks or house shoes (I understand skin contact is necessary to allow the current to go through). That also allows me to explain away an extra lb or two (they are really thick socks!)

During my last pregnancy I was using our scale like that for months before I noticed the sticker on it said pregnant women and people with pacemakers should not use it.  I freaked out.  I called the company and they said that they don't know what it does to a fetus and has never been tested so they put that sticker on to be safe.  I stopped using it but I worried the whole pregnancy about what damage I did.  Now I have a perfect, healthy 15 month old.  Don't waste your time worrying!

 This.  I had no clue until my DH freaked out and told me to get off the scale
