1st Trimester

exercise = nausea?

Anyone else?  I have been really trying to walk/jog 3 miles a day, I was a runner before my BFP but due to a history of high risk pregnancy, I have to be very careful.  I never had m/s with DD but this time every time I try to exercise I feel very nauseas.  Do you push through it or is this my body telling me not to do it?

  • Personally, I would take it as my body telling me not to. Your body is already working really hard creating baby and getting the placenta up and running. I would just try walking as much as you can but not push yourself. Once you get into the second tri (maybe even before), I'm sure you'll feel up for it again.

  • I had just started training for a half marathon when i got my bfp. I was running 3-4 miles per day.

    I never got nauseous from running- in fact I often felt better when I was done (though thoroughly exhausted). But it did make me have to stop to pee every ile or so. I have since cut back to just about 8 miles per week and wont be doing my half marathon in september.

    Id say if it makes you nauseous but back your frequency, but not your intensity. That was the first thing I had to do.  Give your body more of a chance to recover between runs. My doc says runners who are pregnant WILL lose either distance, or time in the first trimester without a doubt, so pick one and focus on the other. If you still want to go everyday, slow it down or cut some distance.

    Hope this helps.

    Just listen to your body. I personally felt better during/after exercise. It helped my m/s. But if it had brought on m/s or made it worse, I would have stopped. Maybe just take it easy for a week or 2 and then start up again. I know I felt so much better once I got through my first tri, and was able to continue jogging and exercising throughout the rest of my pg.
