I'm in teething hell!

My been-sleeping-12-hours-straight-since-6-weeks-old baby is now up every 30 min screaming bloody murder! I've been giving her motrin like the pedi suggested, but it must only work for 30 min....what can I do?

Re: I'm in teething hell!

  • Poor baby, and poor Momma!  I give Tylenol - for some reason it always worked with my kiddos for teething better than Motrin.  I also get orajel and put it on right before he goes to bed.

Does she chew on things?  Can you put some frozen teething toys in her crib with her?  If Collin wakes up he has a few little things in there to gnaw on to entertain him and then he finds his thumb and goes right back to sleep.

  • Awww that's tough on everyone!

I give Tylenol, make sure she has several teething toys, and I hold her a lot.  It's hard because she doesn't want to be left alone, feeding her is a struggle, and she doesn't sleep well but I just try to keep her as comfortable as I can and ride the storm.  It's hard, but it'll pass.

  • Tylenol also seems to work better for us as well.  Not sure why.  We also use Orajel. It comes in a swab and it is easy to apply.  Just know that they will drool more (or at least mine did).

He still wakes up a couple of times in the night, but it is MUCH better.

  • Orajel for sure!  Also, we've actually rotated Motrin & Tylenol every for hours.  Some friends of mine do it every 3 hours, but I stuck with 4.

I also liked the teething tablets. I'm not sure if you can get them now - the Hylands brand was supposed to be the best, but I could only find the Little Remedies brand (like Little Tummies).

Oh, we also give C frozen food to eat.  Green peas, blue berries, chopped pieces of strawberry.  He loves them and I am pretty sure it helps the teeth...I guess!

  • Thanks ladies! The Tylenol worked!

  • Humphries Teething Strips were our saving grace.
