New to the bump and overwhelmed by all the information

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time on the Bump.

Husband and I just decided last night that its about time we start Trying to Conceive.

Any advice from for a first timer?

How did you get prepared? Weren't you scared? When did you know the time was right?

Welcome.

Honestly, I like to go by the mantra of just letting things happen for a while. Unless you're a Type A who has to plan every detail. If so, there's an FAQ on the Trying to Get Pregnant board that apparently has some good info.

We prepared by me having a pre-conception appt at my gyno, starting prenatal vitamins, and taking an NFP class.

I was not scared at all.

No one can answer the "time is right" question for you. There will never be a perfect time to TTC. If you feel your marriage is ready, your finances are ready, and your body is ready, then it's just as good a time as any.

I went to Gyn and got a Pap test and an exam, all results came back normal.

Gyn told me to start on a multi vitamin and follic acid, which I did as of yesterday.

So I guess I am as ready as ever, other than just trying to eat healthier, lose more weight, and just be prepared.

I am also a newcomer to this site. My husband and I after months of talking about it and going through finances and just making sure we were both ready, we finally decided it's time to start TTC. Now that we've agreed I've had so many different feelings about it. I'm a little nervous and scared but more than anything excited and ready to just go through with it. Of course, in also getting prepared I've applied for medical insurance with maternity coverage, I've started taking prenatals, and upon approval of insurance I'll schedule my pre-TTC OB visit. (I still have to take out my IUD before trying). We plan on starting to try sometime in September so as of right now I'm just trying to gather as much information I can and get ready for hopefully will come in the near future.

I knew the time was right when I got a BFP! Some things you can't plan! My advice would be to start taking pre-natals now and avoid alcohol and caffeine. Nothing is worst than getting a BFP and then remembering you had drinks the weekend before. Boy did I freak out!
