Tips for beach trip

We are taking a long weekend trip to florida with my husband, 2 month old, and 19 month old. Any tips or suggestions?

  • Hats and Sunsblock!!    Make sure you have lots of water on hand at the beach and maybe some little snacks for the 19 month old.   And, a sand bucket....that's pretty important.

We also just bought one of those beach tents that will fit more than one person under.    It's this one (it's Sun Smarties):

  • Ditto what the pp said.  I like to put the kids in swimsuits that have rash guard tops to cut down on the amount of sunblock I have to put on them (making it faster to get them ready).  Have fun!

We just got back from 4 days at the beach, and had the same Sun Smarties cabana tent as the pp, and it was AWESOME. we got it from One Step Ahead, online. it zips closed and was great to keep our bags in there and feel like everything was safe and private while we were all at the water.

Definitely take a shovel and bucket. We bought ours at a touristy store and they came with two little sand molds in the shape of a fish and octopus, and my 14 month old loved us creating them and then she would destroy them. Also, maybe some kind of ball that would float if it got into the water?

And baby powder! I'd heard that if you sprinkle that onto sandy feet/legs/bodies the sand just falls off, and it's pretty true. My daughter is a squinter, and we were sorry we didn't at least try to get her sunglasses (don't know if she would actually leave them on, though...). Also, make sure you extra changes of clothes with you, and sunblock, sun hat, swim diapers and water for sure. Also maybe fruit? It's a good beach snack.

    have fun!!
