The things they say!

Let's share some of the funny things the kids have said recently...

Gavin's in a phase of pretending to be animals.  This weekend, he was pretending to be a bird and kept flapping his wings and saying, 'tweet tweet!'  He climbed up on my lap and said, 'Mama, you're my nest!' and curled up with me.  Of course, my hormonal self thought that was adorable and teared up.

A little later, he was a dog.  As he 'woof woofed' his way around the living room, I asked him....'If I as your bird nest when you were a bird, what is mommy now that you're a dog?'  His response - 'My dog bowl!'  Aww....thanks, son!

  • Here is a funny story from the weekend- Evan has been telling me when he poops (I'm thinking we might start potty training soon) So Saturday morning we got up, I changed his diaper and got him some milk. He was in the living room watching cartoons and I was in the kitchen making coffee. He comes running in and says "mommy, poooop!" So, I look in his diaper, no poop. I asked him if he had to go, and if he wanted to sit on the potty. He started running through the kitchen, stopped dead in his tracks and just stood there for a second... then he looked at me, and said "poop all gone" I looked in his diaper, and sure enough he pooped! It was hilarious!
  • Evan is still on one word at a time :( well, other than a few two word things here and there. But he says "bird" soooooooooooo funny. It is the highest pitched thing you've ever heard. He yells Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrddd...at a pitch only dogs can hear whenever he's sees one. I can't wait until he talks more...I feel like I'm missing out on so much of his personality. I know he's got it in there - but he just can't get it out.

Leah just pulls out these words when she feels like it...it's usually when someone else is talking she just repeats after them and you didn't even know she was listening. I actually think she gets a lot from Evan's speech therapist too.

Next year at this time I hope to have two little chatterboxes!!!

  • We went to my dad's farm last night- he has 5 pigs right now. Justin is obsessed with feeding them (melon rinds, apple cores etc...). So my dad takes him down to the barn and they come back to the house and I say, "weren't the piggies so cute?" and Justin says, "mama, piggies not cute- piggies smell like poop in my diaper".

Oh and we were swimming yesterday and my sis splashed me- Justin clapped and said, "yay auntie- you got mommy's boobies all clean"

  • Stella isn't really saying anything funny yet (except we did teach her "Doo Doo" when she poops, lol!).  But she said 2 new words over the weekend, cracker and car.  "Car" was totally on her own!  We bought her a purple Barbie car at a garage sale and we went down to play in the basement and she walked right up to it and said "Car!"

  • Rosie usually watches me put on my makeup, and the other day after I put on some foundation and concealer, she said, "Mama, you look like yourself again!"  Gee, thanks kid.

    Too cute!

  • Eva has been getting nervous about starting preschool in the fall and is always asking if I'm coming with her (it's a co-op so some days I will be).  The other day she was playing away and just stopped, looked at me all serious and asked if I would go to college with her.  I can't wait to remind her of that in 15 years!

  • Owen is very verbal and has some really strong phonemic awareness stuff going on, but last night at dinner we were both shocked when he sang us the alphabet backwards!  UM, I can't even do that!  I taped it and put it on fb and people were like, "what?"

  • Whenever Justin does something and gets worried about it I will say "no big deal or no biggie" so that he doesn't worry.  So lately his new thing is to say "it's no big deal."  And last night he kept saying how "beautiful" the fireworks were.  I know that doesn't sound funny, but to hear him try to say the word is so cute.  He's always coming up with some funny things to say.  Last week he was sitting in the hallway while I was getting ready for work.  He said to me "Mama, I'm hangin' out."

The other night I accidently pinched Claire's finger when I move a planter.  My mother said, "What did Mommy do?  I'm going to spank her for you."  Claire responded, "No!"  I said, "Claire, you're such a nice girl.  Thank you."  And she gets this totally devilish tone and says, "No, Claire do it."  She then proceeds to pat my back, a la spank. Hysterical!

     BTW, she doesn't get spanked.

  • My six year old just woke up, came downstairs and yelled "***".  I looked at him rather awkwardly and he explained that he was going to surprise me by yelling ***-a-doodle-doo, but I looked at him and startled him.  Judging by his lack of laughter, I don't think he knows what it means.
