What did you do for the 4th?

We went to a friends house and BBQ. We were home and M was asleep before dark.

  • Drove home from Moses Lake, ordered pizza and hung out in the cul-de-sac breaking the law (fireworks are a nono in MC) till about 8:30. Now having a glass of wine and watching all the fireworks on tv!

  • Came home from camping, unpacked and now watching the fireworks on TV.
  • Ate ice cream for breakfast , drove home from the family reunion in Selah, unloaded the car, went to a BBQ, came home again and put E to sleep until the fireworks woke her up.  Then set up the PnP in the basement and put her back to sleep.  Now I'm surfing the interweb instead of unpacking.

  • DH smoked a pork shoulder and we had an awesome pulled pork with NC style (vinegar based) BBQ sauce and grilled corn for dinner.  Currently I am having a brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream, while DH mutters threats about what he wants to do to the neighbors blowing up ridiculously loud fireworks.  I swear, he is 26 going on 80 about some things. :)

  • I worked all day. It was slammed for most of the day but then died after about 9pm.

  • This morning we took the kids to the parade in Enumclaw. Then after naptime we spent the rest of the afternoon/evening at Lake Tapps. Such a fun day and the weather was perfect. We left around 8 pm so we missed the fireworks, but ohwell.

  • Took the kids to my parents' house for the day - hung out, BBQ.. came home and played in the new toy sprinkler thing, made ice cream pizzas for dinner then watched a couple of kid shows. Drugged the dog and am now trying to coax him upstairs so he doesn't whine at the bottom of the stairs all night. He's so snowed but cant relax, can barely walk! Poor guy.
  • I worked a 12 hour shift (2am-2pm), came home, took H to the park and walked around a bit, came home and BBQ some veggie burgers ..then tried to go to bed early  - H had a fever all day and woke up an hour after we put him down from fireworks and was up till after 11 upset and crying .. I got back up for work at 2:30 a.m....I hope today goes fast cuz I'm one tired mama!!

  • We hung out at home, set up the kiddie pool after doing some yard work.  My parents came up for a bbq, we did some sparklers, pop it's with M before they left. Boys were in bed and asleep by 8, and slept through it all!  We went to bed at 9:30 and tried to sleep through the crazyness on the culdesac, poor D had to be at work at 5.

  • Up at 8am. Breakfast , cartoons and tricking our trike out. Admiral Kids Parade overlooking Alki at 10am (only downside was a big bruise from crashing into a radio flyer wagon during a raucous game of tag at Hamilton viewpoint afterwards). Home for lunch and 3 hour nap (1.5 for the adults!). Then headed over to our friend's private community 4th BBQ and Fireworks show at Lake Marcel in Duvall - we go every year. Played on the beach, went wading, bouncy house, bubble machine, glow-stick fun and BBQ from 5pm-10pm. Same as last year, G stayed up to watch the "boom boom"- but this year he oohed and awed and giggled and clapped his way through the (just as good at Lake Union IMO) :30 show....SO, a pretty amazing day - definitely best 4th ever!
  • bbq at home with friends during the day, then went to edmonds for fireworks. anybody else there? there were a few scary incidents during the show, and we were about 30 ft away from them both.

  • First we woke up and tried to get over our slight hangovers. On Sunday, we had an unexpected get together with friends and they brought a bucket (yes a bucket) of Pina Coladas which we drank after we had already been to dinner at a brewery. After we recovered some, we headed to my sister's house for a BBQ and fireworks. Her neighborhood is CRAZY on the 4th. It's in MC, where like Kaci said fireworks are a no no, but you can't tell by her neighborhood. She lives up on a hill that overlooks a huge housing development. After lighting our fireworks we sat on the back deck and watched the neighborhood. It was a great night.

  • We went down to the Freedom Fair in Tacoma and walked around down there for a few hours and ate lots of food. The fighter planes during the airshow scared the crap out of Jake so I had to put him in the Ergo and cover his ears every time they would fly overhead. Then we came home and Jake went in the pool for the first time and LOVED it. Then we ordered pizza. Luckily all the fireworks across the street didn't wake Jake up.

  • Our friend's aunt has a house on Lake Washington.  We hung out there.  We lucked out and Laurel actually fell asleep in the pack-n-play and so we were able to stay longer and watch the Kirkland and Bellevue fireworks.

  • Hung out outside at home for the day, then around 5 went to my aunt and uncles house on the waterfront in Tacoma where they had a band playing and all! Ella loved the music and it was nice cause my parents were there and pretty much let dh and I just have fun without baby duty! :) fireworks started around 10 and Ella really liked them. We also could see the lake union show from the deck, so it was pretty neat watching both! We all slept in until 10 this morning! :)

  • We had our annual BBQ and big firework show at our house.  First year with LO and it was a lot of work hosting and taking care of a newborn.  LO was sleeping the whole day and luckily the whole night too!

DH and I are both thinking we might not host it next year since we are both so freakin tired!

  • 4th of July is FIL's birthday, so we are always guilted into spending time with the ILs. after fulfilling that obligation we went to BIL's for a much better party! No fireworks for us this year though, we were home with DD in bed by nine. We had three big fans going in her room to drown out the war zone outside and it worked, yay! Our neighborhood is truely insane when it comes to fireworks; I get a big, free show from my driveway!

  • No fun 4th events for us this year, thankfully Max is young enough not to care. Went to a couple different neighborhood parks, got groceries, grilled for dinner and my mom joined us for that.

Thank goodness both kids slept through the fireworks though they did keep DH and me awake.

  • We celebrated the 4th on Saturday Sunday and Monday.  We went out on the boat 4th of July, then came back to have dinner with friends and family.  Fresh Alaskan crab, salmon, and lots of other goodies.  T was in bed by 9 though since he stayed up until 11 the night before.  The area my parents live in usually has the big 4th celebration the day before since a lot of times people leave.  They have professionals come out and do the big fireworks.  This was T's first year watching them, and he LOVED it.  After that we all went back to my parents and drank and had a good time. I don't think H and I were in bed before 1am all weekend!!. I'm exhausted!

  • Stuffed ourselves full of crab at the house we rented at hood canal, went down to my aunt and uncles house there and lit off fireworks while J slept in the bedroom there, ate smores and then came home about 11pm.  Did this both the 3rd and 4th!  So much fun!
