I don't drink coffee, so I know nothing about coffee makers. DH drinks a lot of coffee and his old "Mr. Coffee" coffee maker is about to die. I want to get him a nice, new coffee maker for Christmas. DH probably won't like anything too fancy. He drinks black coffee -- nothing flavored. He doesn't want one of those machines that makes one cup of coffee at a time.
Recommendations?
Re: Rec your coffee maker, please
I don't think ours is "the best" but I do really like it and the coffee tastes great. It's a cuisinart.

We have this Cuisinart one - I like that there is no carafe (it looks nicer, IMO)

We have a cuisinart grind and brew. It definitely tastes better when you get good coffee and freshly brew it. The only problem is that it takes a little time to clean out all the beans after they've been ground. So since we usually don't have that time anymore we also bought a keurig k-cup that we love. We pack away our cuisinart one for when we have company.
I love my cuisinart. We've had it for 4.5 years and it's been working perfectly.
I have the regular 12 cup brew. The ones with the grinder look really nice too.
It is really easy to clean - there is a plastic lift-out thing inside that you can wash (and run through the dishwasher). We love it - although sometimes it confuses guests who can't figure out how to get the coffee out!
We have this one and I love it. It keeps coffee hot for HOURS! We make it in the morning and we usually dont' finish it, so when I emptied it that night it was still hot!
