Prefolds as pocket inserts?

Just wondering if you can use prefolds as inserts for pocket diapers.  Would newborn/small prefolds work or would they be too bulky?

I was thinking about this as well. So far, what I've heard is that they should work. Other opinions?

That is what I use them for half of the time.  I use the smaller of my prefolds as stuffers and the bigger ones as just prefolds with a cover.  They're not super bulky at all.

I hate microfiber and I don't have enough hemp inserts for all my pockets yet. Prefolds have worked great . I currently am using my orange edge gmd's stuffed into BG's on the smallest rise setting. I think as we move up in size/age I will likely use my yellow edges or my bamboo flats to stuff. Some people have problems with stink in their MF and using prefolds is a great way to avoid that

Yup!  Love prefolds in my pockets.  I use orange on the smallest setting, yellow on the medium setting and red on the largest setting in my BGs.  Works like a charm!  It's a tad bulkier than using microfiber but it works so much better (no compression leaks) and no stink!

Newborn prefolds, folded into thirds work perfectly for pocket diapers! They are super absorbent and not tooo bulky.

I'm in middle rise on BGs and use orange or yellow GMDs, no prob. (I don't use them for night time, just in the day.) Works well!
