BAHAHAHAHA, I asked him what his were!
Zelda and Link.
Yes, from the Legend of Zelda video game. *Face palm.* Well, at least he has the sense to not seriously suggest them to me.
Though I don't think Lincoln nn Linc is awful and Zelda would be nice if it weren't for the fact that I now DH would get on board only because of a video game.
Re: DH's Guilty Pleasure Names
You know--I kind of get where he's coming from. I freaking love the Legend of Zelda games. As long as they stay on the "guilty pleasure" list, then I support him.
And actually, I don't think using them would be THAT terrible, as long as they weren't both used in the same family....
I like the games too! I just don't want to name my children after them. Though I am after my favorite book characters. I guess I'm kind of snooty and think books are better than video games. Oh, that being said I need to get off TB so I can do some things around the house and then play some xbox, lol!
DH has a daughter from a previous marriage named Xena from Legends of Zelda.
ETA: Its pronounced like "zee-nah" a lot of people don't know that. I guess it wouldv'e made more sense to spell it Zena.
I knew a brother and sister named Luke and Leia. The mom actually got pissy with people when they asked "Are they named after the Star Wars characters?" "No! they're named after people in the Bible!"
Dude. There are, like, five million Biblical names. You picked the two that are also main characters from the top-grossing film franchise of all time. Spare me your disdain.
Furthermore, it's Leah in the Bible, which I've always heard pronounced Lee-uh, not like Lay-uh in Star Wars. I will admit, I like Leia...and Leah. Maybe I could have twin girls and be one ot those silly matchy-matchy moms.
She spelled it that way as well, and in the original Hebrew "Leah" is pronounced "Lay-uh," so she wasn't BS-ing. Though the only other people I've heard pronounce the name that way are Jewish, generally Orthodox Jews, so a non-Jew in particular pronouncing it that way is not common at all in my experience.
Leah and Leia... oh please no... unless you also have fraternal twins named Zelda and Link.
See- this annoys me!! Because when I was younger I thought it was pronounced Lay-uh but people would always correct me and say it was Lee-uh. Well
to them, I was right! And yeah, totally joking about the Leah and Leia thing!
my son's name is Lincoln.. we call him Linc or Linkie for a nm
Linkie is kinda strange i know.. but it's cute on him
I am now a fan of your DH! That is awesome!
