Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

LO always 'puckering up'- pushing lips toward nose...

Is this just him playing around or some kind of tic? It seems really stupid to even wonder about it but he has been doing this with his lips (like pushes them all the way up to his nose- it is not just puckering up like a kiss and is not for any reason/purpose, he does it randomly, when playing, when we're reading books, etc) for months but lately is doing it all the time, like this morning after bfast he justkept doing it over & over. It's not the most attractive thing LOL but otherwise there isn't anything wrong with it, I just want to be sure it is not associated with some other kind of issue with his mouth or something else...?? anyone ever heard of this?

  • My DD does this occasionally throughout the day.  She makes that puckering up face then gets her lips way up there and kind of snorts or breaths funny.  She thinks it is hilarious!  I noticed my BF's daughter doing it the other day when they were here visiting too, but not sure if she was just watching Stella and learned it from her or if she did it on her own.

  • OK good thanks! I figured it was just playing around w/ what he can do but the getting more frequent thing was bugging me a little.

  • Is he still teething? DD puckers her lips sometimes and it seems to be when she's teething. I think puckering her lips puts pressure on her gums and helps soothe them a little.
