FP RNP - gimme reviews!

I trust all of your advice so much - in a recent thread the RNP was brought up again. I keep pondering - is it worth it? We're on a tight budget, but it's on sale at Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Newborn-Rock-Sleeper-Yellow/dp/B002M77N22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1309720856&sr=8-1). Do you have it? What do you think? I have a silent reflux baby - currently we co-sleep with me sitting up/reclined in bed with him propped against me. Loads of comfort! ;)

If you have any other reflux-comfort tricks I'd love to hear them.

Mine has been using a hot water bottle against him when he's uncomfortable (obviously not scalding hot - do I even need a disclaimer??).

Yes, yes, YES!!!!  I wish we had bought it before we brought Reid home.  He has reflux and he loves it.  He has no problem sleeping in this.  And now that he is 5 months adjusted he can kick his feet and rock himself.  It is a GREAT buy and something I recommend all the time to other moms.
  • Yes, it is worth it.  Your CL has one for $20. (if you really do still live near Philly).

Drat, link not working. I'll dig for it - we really do live in Philly - West Philadelphia, like Will Smith Geeked

  • It WOULD be nice if she could sleep without touching one of us AT ALL TIMES.

She likes it better than the bassinet.

I like that it's super portable. I put her in it and take it with me into the bathroom, or whatever room I'm in.

  • It's definitely worth it. It's one of the few items that I feel we got amazing use out of and wish we had sooner!

  • Definitely worth it!  My guys slept in there's until they were 5 months old (either that or the FP Little Lamb Lounger) and napped in it at my Mom's until about a month ago.  We got our money out of it for sure!!

Our trick was to put rice in the leg of an old pair of tights and tie it off to make a rice bag.  Then we could microwave it for a few seconds and use it like a hot water bottle on their tummies. The reason I liked this better than a hot water bottle was because I could put a drop of lavender oil on the fabric for a little aromatherapy.  My guys loved it!!

We will rock out & then tell you all about it.

PS If I had a microwave I'd steal that lavendar idea, but instead I add a dash of Target/Up&up menthol baby wash to the water in his bottle because stuffy noses accompany reflux. Gotta get creative these days! :X

  • Love, love, LOVE it! My mom picked one up for us and I wish I could have gotten one for each! Both of my boys absolutely love this, it's completely worth the money! Both of my boys have reflux (not silent reflux, the now-we're-feeding-now-you're-wearing-my-bottle reflux) and it definitely props them up enough so I can put the first baby in it while I feed the second.

As far as comfort tricks, put his diaper on loosely. Obviously tight enough that it won't fall off, but make sure it's not very tight. It can make reflux more unbearable. Kind of like with adults, we're not recommended to wear tight clothes if we have reflux, same thought for babies. HTH!

LOVED IT!!!! It changed my life!  We went from Isaac sleeping on my chest every night to sleeping 5 hours or so in the RnP!  Reflux issues, fussiness, etc..this helped with all that!! And I loved how portable it was - just snap it shut and it lies flat - bring it from room to room or to Grandma's house.

Since he is our last child, it was hard to convince DH that we needed more NEW baby stuff, but we fell in love with it right away!  And I resold it for a good price.  I wish we had it for my older 3!!   Good luck.

  • The RNP helped transition my son to his crib. It was a saving grace for his silent reflux.
