My sister's best friend growing up was named Asia, but it was spelled "Aja." It's a real name of Hindi origin. You can also spell it Ajah. I think you're right to have hesitation, but I don't think it's completely awful.

No, I don't think you should use it. I think avoiding actually using guilty pleasure names is usually really important. Asia isn't the worst guilty pleasure name I've heard (hell--its a lot better than some of my own), but I still don't think it's a great name for a kid.

I do like the name Asa. I would consider it for my boy's list if I were Jewish...

As PP said it's not the WORST I've heard. Maybe I'm just more open to some names, but I like it. If everyone wants to get out of this Aiden, Jayden, Hayden rut we need to start bringing new names onto the list. 

I'll probably get bashed for this, but I think Asia is a pretty name, and with the right middle name, could be a pretty name all together.

I had an Asia in one of my classes this year. Unfortunately, she was Asian, and she was the only only asian student I saw all day (it was a 90% hispanic school). It was also spelled in an incredibly bizarre way (Aziah).

This.  I have always seen it a Aja.  I like it.  Asia = Continent ;  Aja = cool name.

The Aja I knew is a hip, cool girl.  I say go for it if you like it.

I know a couple girls named Asia. One is about 16 now. My cousin named his daughter Asia, but they pronounce it az-ee-ah. Neither is my cup o' tea.

I like it actually and would consider using it.  However, I've had a few students over the years named Asia so IDK if I want to use it.

Asha = Asia pronounced the same. One is a Sanskrit name, the other Polish, short for Joanna, but it doesn't sound like the continent.

I knew a girl named this in college. There are definitely worse names. If it wasn't a continent it would be a really pretty and legit name

which dog?  we got the white one in the top right corner, the one playing with the cat, the day before thanksgiving last year when he ran out in front of my car.  his name is booty.  the others we've had for a few yrs now.  but i promise, we are done.  well only if we end up with a two legged baby then i'll stop collecting all of the homeless dogs of the world.
