In my desperate search for a longer version of Ellie I found Elliotte...like Elliot but the more feminine version I presume. I don't mind the using boy names for girls or vice versa I have always been fans of Carson and Carter on girls. Elliotte reminds me of Juliet..thoughts??
Re: Elliotte for a girl? Saw this yesterday what are your thoughts??
It looks made up, like a feminine Elliot wanna-be. No a fan.
If you want to use Elliot for a girl, just do it. Changing a spelling to "fem it up" is generally not a good idea.

Oh, forgot. My issue with it would be that it's an odd combo with Isobel, which is ultra-feminine. While I don't think names have to match, I do think they should at least be the same style.

elliotte clare
elliotte jane
elliotte grace
I don't like boy names on girls period. I'm not even a fan of unisex names for girls at least on my kids. I like Ellie. Other suggetions to have Ellie nn ::
Elina
Eliana
Eliora (my favorite from my list)
Ellen
Eleanora
Elodie
Elodia
Elena

I think that if you want to use a boy name on a girl, you should own it. Spell it Elliot - no need to girlify it with a made-up spelling.
Also, you mentioned that you picked Isobel before it became the #1 name, and it seems like that bothers you...Ellie is also a very, very popular nn right now. I don't know if you care or not, but I thought I'd point that out.
No, no, no. Elliott is a boy's name. I don't care how many e's or y's are added to it. It's a boy name no matter how you spell it.
If you really like Ellie as a nickname, name her Elizabeth, Elliana, Eliana, Elena, Elissa, Gabrielle, Arabella, Arielle, Ellen, Eleanor, Elisa, Elise, Eliza, Eloise, etc and call her Ellie.

Great point! I've said this before on here, but I think Ellie is the most underrated (popularity-wise) name right now. I know 8 baby Ellies, but they have 6 different full names: Ellie, Elizabeth x2, Ellen, Ellis, Elliot, and Elliana x2. So just looking at the SSA list, you wouldn't thinks its that popular, but when she shows up to preschool, don't be surprised if there are several others.
For what it's worth, I think Ellie is a cute name, and my favorite full names for it are Elizabeth and Eleanor.

I agree that the E on the end is unnecessary and makes no sense. I don't mind Elliott for a girl at all though, it kind of makes me think of the girl on Scrubs. If you like elliott use it...with no E. JMO
This or just name her Ellie.

We named our little girl Elliot Elizabeth and I am 100% happy with our decision to do so. I love her name. We call her Ellie for short. Others are split 50/50 on liking the name but we didn't name her to impress other people. We've found for the most part, older people don't get and people my age love it. I like that our DD won't have the same name as 5 other girls in her class.
We considered other spelllings of the name (Elliette, Elliotte) but decided we like the more traditional spelling. If you like it, don't listen to other people......and when you do listen to other's opinions, take into consideration what they named their kids! If we all agreed on the same names, all little girls would be Sophia or Bella!
