2nd Trimester

sad story.

one of my best friends has this cousin who has been on drugs for years now.. she has one daughter who fortunatly came out fine with now problems.. she then got pregnant again and we found out yesterday that the doctors wanted to induce her 2 weeks early due to seeing problems and wanting to just get the baby out ...well..sadly...the baby didnt make it.. such selfishness on the moms part.. just wanted to share.. i feel so bad for this baby ...its like she never had a chance.. makes you appreciate all the hard work we moms do to stay healthy for our LO's

Re: sad story.

  • That is a very sad story. I get that addiction is a disease but pregnancy is preventable. Therefore, if you know you're pregnant and you still do drugs/alcohol, I think it should be considered child abuse and in the very least punishable by jail time or court ordered rehab. Just my opinion. Stories like this really upset me.

  • Stories like that disgust me. I have a sister who had a situation a few years ago where she was pregnant with twins and miscarried both because of drugs. When I hear of these stories, they strike a personal nerve with me. I really think people should have a license to breed. Just my opinion, not everyone deserves to get the privilege of being a parent. Can you imagine what the baby's life would have been like if it had survived? That is another strong nerve that gets me worked up.

  • So sad.  I Hope they take her other child away from her... she's clearly not fit to parent.
  • Was she using during this pregnancy? Your post makes it seem like that is the case. However, are we sure that she had a miscarriage because she was using drugs or some other complication? Either way, I think it is so sad that she lost her baby at all. Very tragic.

If she abuses drugs then she needs some rehab and a safe place for her other child to reside. Very unfortunate. Sad

  • My SIL was addicted to crack, and found out she was pregnant a month or two into the pregnancy. Luckily she quit, and luckily my niece is a bright young girl with an amazing personality.

What drugs was she using? I feel bad for her baby, who did not have a chance at life with a mother like that.

  • well the baby was due in 2 weeks and the dr was noticing low birth weight and other problems and they decided it was time to take her out before any more harm could come from her staying inside the mother.. i believe she uses heroin...pills.. shes a mess always had been .. .luckily her ex bf is SUCH an amazing father to the other little girl she has and her mother is the main care giver for her child.  i really do hope they take her rights away though because as soon as everyone knew she was pregant again everyone was afraid something like this would happen .. and it did.
  • Here's the thing - unless there's a drug CONVICTION there's nothing that can be done...  Bro's ex sounds similar and pretty much hands are tied...  Unless there is physical evidence/photos/etc. CPS can't do a gosh darn thing.

I know it sounds harsh, but pray that this baby's mission in life was to snap her back to reality and what she's doing to herself...

Not necessarily true! My parents have full custody of my niece, and my sister had not been convicted of anything. My parents got proof of her unstable mental illness and drug addiction, then were granted custody. She has been in rehab so many times and is only worse now than ever. It is sad, but it is more sad for the children that they bring in to this world.

Actually not true, it depends on where you live. In my state with a hx of drug use and IUGR (a potentially drug related problem) she would have been drug tested in the hospital and if she tested positive would probably be in a world of hurt legally.

I agree. I license for breeding. My DH has said this for years. I also have a sister on drugs. Thankfully she has had the sense not to get pregnant. The state will pay for birth control and you can get condoms for free plus the morning after pill... no excuse. And I'm sorry for the LO's that didn't make it. There are plenty of good homes that would take them in if their mom can't get it together.
