Initials ABC - ok or no?

We seem to have settled on Alina (or Aleena - not sure which spelling we will go with yet) for our little girl.  I really like Brielle for the middle name, but our last name begins with a C.  Do you think having ABC for your initials would be weird or no big deal?

Re: Initials ABC - ok or no?

  • Also, please feel free to weigh in on a spelling preference.  Our choices seem to be Alina, Aleena or Alena.  Alina is the most common spelling according to the Social Security baby names index.  Thanks!

  • I prefer Alina and I think ABC is perfectly fine--cute even!
  • I like Alina. The ABC initials are fine, but a lot of people will probably think you tried to plan it out that way. No big deal in my opinion, though.

Initials are only something that matters if they spell something 'bad' (ie. AS*, SAD, DUM..)

  • My DD's initials are ABC, and I think it's neat because she was also born on 3210. :) There are so many initials that are far far far worse than ABC.
  • The initials are fine.  Besides, the only way people will probably even notice the initials are if you have something monogrammed.  However, in that case, the monogram would read aCb.

  • I know an adult ABC, and she seems to like her initials. (She uses them to sign her blog posts, for example.) So I don't have the sense she found them traumatizing.
  • Please name her Alina.  I adore that name.  And as PP said, ABC isn't that big of a deal initials-wise.

  • I think it's cute. I love Alina. We order from Kelly's Kids all the time where they do initials on seersucker outfits and ABC would be cute.

  • I grew up with a girl who had ABC as initials, it's pretty harmless!
  • I like Alina best and think that ABC is just fine for initials.

  • I prefer the spelling Alina.  And I think it sounds good with your mn choice.  ABC is no biggie. The only time I'd worry about initials is if it spelled something bad. For example, my little cousin's name was supposed to be Autumn Sydney.  However, our last name starts with an S; therefore, making her initials A.S.S.  They changed the spelling so her name would Autumn Cydney S. instead (the middle name had meaning so there was no changing the actual name).

  • I'd definitely go with Alina.  Aleena looks strange to me, and Alena makes me want to pronounce it "Elena".

I don't think the initials are a problems at all.  Cute name!
