People with sand boxes

I have one of those plastic turtle sand boxes and was wondering about how much sand I should buy. Any help or examples of what you bought for yours would be helpful. I am clueless.

    i want to get a sandbox and the "play sand" kind of worries me. is that crazy?

    my diaper bag had a prop 65 warning for the vinyl. they're really vague and weird about some things so i can't always tell which ones to take seriously.

    I bought the turtle sandbox and we used about a bucket and a half of sand to fill it. 

    ETA: I guess I should say they were 5 gallon buckets.

    It can hold 150 lbs of sand but an online reviewer said three bags of play sand was sufficient (even though it could hold much more than that).

    We have 1 50 pound bag of play sand in ours.  We have more bags in the garage but DD doesn't want anymore Huh?.  The sand is about 1.5 inches deep right now.
