I'm bored.  What do you think of this name?

I'll tell you, that it's mine.  And that most of my life it's been misspelled and mispronounced and connected with a ChasTity belt and Cher's daughter ChasTity.  But I really love it.  I wouldn't pass it on or suggest it to someone else, but it's worked for me.  I won't buy a name book unless it has my name in it, lol.  Strangely, I know 3 other Chasity's and one ChasTity but she pronounces it without the first "t." 

Just curious what others first think.

One of my best friends is named Chasity   She is the only one I've ever met and she is a great person.  I personally don't care for the name mainly b/c I've seen how much the ChasTity misprounciation and teasing have hurt her.

At first glance, it looks like Chastity misspelled. I honestly didn't even realize Chasity is a name. In general, "virtue" names are NMS.

Is it pronounced with a CH or like a K?  Is it sort of like Cassidy?

It is pronounced just like Chastity but without the first T.

I know its missing the first T but my mind goes to chastity belt right away. sorry!

Even though I know Chasity and Chastity are technically two different names Chasity is still a variant of Chastity and therefore the two are inextricably linked for me.  I think certain virtue names are kind of outdated and this is one of them.  I feel like you're setting your child up for chastity belt jokes no matter which variant of the name you go with.  

I'm glad you like your name and that having it didn't scar you for life, but I also would never use this particular name myself.

I was thinking this, too. I like virtue names, but my favorite is Charity, another one this could pass as a close one for. So is Chasity a variation of a virtue name or not?

It is a variation of Chastity so I would say it is a virtue name. Um, significance? My mom just woke up one day and decided that's what she was going to name me. Didn't even have a boy name picked out and never knew the gender. She has an odd naming decision making pattern. My siblings all have normal names though. Also, it means purity and while I like my name if she would have been interested in the meaning (she wasn't) she probably would have just gone with Katherine/Catherine/Caitlin.
