Heparin Doseage

I got switched from Lovenox to Heparin yesterday.  Did the first injection this morning and was surprised how much there was to inject.  I'm doing 1mL or 5000 units 2 times per day.  Does that seem right?  Thinking about calling Dr. to make sure the pharmacy filled it correctly

um...... that sounds WAY off.... i would definitely call and double check first!!!

I am on heparin right now and I am injecting  1/2 cc of 5000 units 2 times per day and my doc wants to double it in the second trimester and then double again in the 3rd!  Sounds legit to me.  Hope that helps!

 Sounds right to me- I had an apt with my MFM today  b/c I switch tomorrow and she said the most common dose is 1.0 and 1.5 cc (ml) are the most common doses used.  (2x daily)

I recently switched from Heparin to Lovenox so I won't have to do shots 2x/day but will switch back to Heparin closer to delivery.  But my dr. had me doing 5,000 units twice a day of Heparin. It's a 10,000 unit vial per ml, so for 5,000 units, it's 1/2 ml you draw up.  GL!

That sounds exactly right to me. I take 40 mg Lovenox one time a day. I switched to Heparin this week, and I take 10,000 units a day -- 5,000 in each shot, 2x a day. The equates to two little viles. It does seem like a lot, but it is the correct dosage if you are taking it prophylactically.
