Re: Friday check-in
1. Woke up feeling pretty decent at 27 1/2 weeks pregnant. So happy for only having an 8-hour day of work today and a day off on Monday! I need it - I'm exhausted.
2. Highlight: being invited into a Bunco group by my friend at work; Lowlight: various work annoyances.
3. Happy Hour w/ DH after work and then an open weekend without any plans. We're still tossing around ideas and have a potential invite to watch fireworks with a friend of Brent's.
4. I was going to be a meteorologist when I was in elementary, and in high school I wanted to be a teacher. I didn't back off of teaching until my senior year of high school, and entered into college as a marketing major. By my sophomore year I realized I'd have a better shot getting a job as an accountant, so here I am.
Let's do the check-in on Tuesday when everyone's getting back into the swing of the week. Safe travels!
1. I have a sore throat. I am hoping it's from post-nasal drip from allergies and not a summer cold or strep or something fun like that.
2. Highlight: DD started doing so many new things this week! Stood on her own for the first time, started drinking out of her sippy all by herself (purposefully), doing a real crawl instead of inchworming everywhere. Lowlight: DH was out of town all week and got back last night and I felt like poo, so it wasn't much of a welcome home.
3. Dinner out w/DH tonight while mom watches DD. We're thinking Cajun food. Maybe hitting up Carmel's 4th of July thing for some carnival food. Because who doesn't need a tenderloin from a trailer?
4. I wanted to be an actress. I was in a bunch of plays and I was sure I was destined for Broadway or Hollywood. I can still be a drama-queen (ha) but being a SAHM definitely affords more privacy than a Hollywood lifestyle would. I am sure my theatrics will come in handy when DD is older and wants to play make-believe stuff.
1. how are you feeling? Ok for now. I had a headache last night and when I woke up at 2am. It hopefully has gone away and won't return today.
2. highlight/lowlight of your week? Highlight- getting the former office and now current office/guest room painted (pale low)! Lowlight- Actually doing the painting.
3. weekend plans? Tonight- putting the office furniture back and moving the guest room furniture in there (so the former guest room will be empty and ready to become the nursery.) Tomorrow- Dh and I will work in the yard if the weather is nice. Otherwise, probably clean/organize more in the house or garage. On Sunday, Dh's parents are taking us to lunch and then we are riding with them to French Lick Resort in southern Indiana for a family reunion. Dh's grandma is paying for hotel for the night and dinner for everyone at a nice steakhouse... so looking forward to that. There are fireworks at the resort on Sunday night. On Monday, we'll return home and probably just chill.
4. when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? How does that compare to now? I thought about being an architect or a doctor as a kid. I gave up on the architect idea and freshman year of college, I took 1/2 science classes and 1/2 business classes. The people that were actually pre-med were mad that I ruined the curve in the science classes. I really liked my Business Law class in college and thought about becoming a lawyer. However, I ended up deciding to major in Accounting like my dad. I have a BS in Accounting and worked in public accounting for almost 12 years until April 18, 2011. Now, I'm a SAHW soon to be SAHM. I plan to stay home for a couple years and then return to the workforce, but probably go private since public accounting is grueling with the long hours and travel.

1. how are you feeling? Pretty good-no complaints
2. highlight/lowlight of your week? Today will be my highlight. I have the day off and am catching up with some old college friends. I can't wait to see everyone!
3. weekend plans? Tonight we're having a cookout/birthday party for my father-in-law. We are going to see fireworks with friends either Saturday or Sunday night, and then we have a cookout on Monday.
4. when you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? How does that compare to now? I always wanted to be a doctor. I was actually enrolled at Purdue in biochemistry for pre-med studies and then switched to pre-pharmacy right before classes started. The idea was that a bachelors degree in pharmaceutical sciences would allow better jobs than a science degree if I didn't get accepted into med school. (already with DH at the time and didn't want to leave the state) However, I fell in love with pharmacy and am about to finish up my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. I occasionally think about med school in the future but the truth is pharmacy is great money, I really enjoy it, and it would be much more conducive to having children schedule-wise.
1. Still very sleep-deprived. I may get more sleep on call at the hospital tonight than I would at home...
2. Highlight: Reached the half-way point of my residency! Lowlight: Severe sleep deprivation.
3. On call tonight
Hope to head to the pool with the kids tomorrow post-call. Sunday we are heading down to Columbus to my parents' house on the lake. There is a parade for the kids and a fireworks display that we'll watch from the boat. Monday the plan is to relax then go to the neighborhood block party and watch the downtown Indy fireworks on Talbott St.
4. My mom found and framed a drawing I did at age 5 where I declared "I want to be a nars" - apparently I meant "nurse", based on the drawing. Instead, I became a physician. I remember wanting to be a doctor since I was in elementary school and was in and out of the hospital a lot.
