Only an U/S at 20 wks?!?

I called my dr. to see when my first ultrasound would be and they said not until 20 weeks! WTF?!? With my first, we were at a specialist and had a lot of U/S, so I am so bummed about this news!

I would LOVE to not have one until 20 weeks! These complications are taking me on a roller coaster ride.

I know it sucks for those who have HAD to have an U/S for scary reasons, and I dont wish that on anyone... But I would still like to see the baby before 20 weeks along. I know my insurance covers it so that isnt an issue. I havent even seen the dr. yet, and wont until 10 weeks and they never even have confirmed the pregnancy with a blood test or urine test... which i thought was weird.

You could tell them you are not sure about the date of your last menstrual period and they would have to do an early u/s for dating purposes.

This is my doctor's standard policy as well. I did have one at my first appointment, though, because they were not sure on my dates. They refer out to another practice for an optional NT scan, which includes u/s, at 11-13 weeks if you want it.
