I like prefolds because we've never had a leak with them (with a good cover). My AIOs leak nearly every time.
Prefolds are also easy to wash and getting a good fit is super easy. We use newborn green mountain diaper prefolds and thirsties duo covers or tweedle bugs XS covers.
AIOs we've tried are GroVia AIO (If I had more than 1 I'd probably like AIOs more), Lil Joeys and XS fuzzibunz.
It may be different as LO gets bigger and perfects her wiggling at diaper changes!!
-Also - we love fitteds with wool at night.

Can I say I like each for different situations? I am a big fan of a mixed stash.
Prefolds are great for newborns, and at home. But for going out of the house AIOs are pretty easy to use. AIOs are also most like a disposable, so easiest for resistant DHs and sitters.

This exactly- I love different types depending on the situation! I have prefolds, fitted, pockets and AIO and I use them all
I haven't even used them yet (obviously), but I'm in the AIO camp because it was the only way to get DH on board with cloth diapering. He was way too scared of prefolds, and since we plan on a big family, he was willing to 'invest' in the AIOs.
I can only post about the newborn stage, but I LOVE our prefolds. The AIOs are convenient, but they're way more likely to leak than a prefold.

I love them both for different reasons. Well, to be fair, I don't have any AIO's but I have pockets which are similar.
I love the prefolds for newborn and at home (never a leak) and the pockets for travel + nighttime.
Plus, prefolds are just great to have around for a variety of reasons (spit up, naked time, little boy pee fountains during changes, etc)
This.
