Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

what things do you do that the BUMP majority would frown upon?

Flame Free!!!

Who will step up first? I dare ya.  Let it alllll out.

For me?

  • Hardly anything I give my kid is organic.  Too expensive and not many choices at the market I frequent.
  • He's forward facing
  • Still drinks from a beginner sippy (hasn't mastered the straw or cup)
  • I use waaaay too many paper towels cleaning his messes
  • Still give him puree veggies so he has veggies.
  • He watches TV (the horrors - although it's mostly Sesame Street and Super Why)

I feel cleansed.  Who will love me now? huh?

  • See, now I would think I'm in the minority regarding tv, because LO watches no television. I see lots of posts on here about women who use it when they are getting ready for work or whatever.

Um...I'm still nursing, 14 months.  LO still has a bottle before his morning/afternoon naps if I'm not with him, although he does love straws!  We only use partially organic stuff.  Oh, and I don't always return carts to the cart stalls.

    My daughter is forward facing.

She is still taking a bottle (we work at this just not as hard as we should)

We don't buy anything organic. I wouldn't even know where to find it in our grocery store.

  • On my way to work in the morning, I stop at McDonalds and get a coffee and a hashbrown for Grace. I only work 3 days a week but she expects her hashbrown on those days. So that means I feed my child fast food 3 times a week. I have no shame.

Oh I am so guilty of this. I rarely return them to the cart stalls. Silas only eats certain things organic, I tried cloth diapering and hated it, oh and we totally use pull and pray as our birth control method Stick out tongue except for I often forget the pray part. Darn!

  • When feeling sick or, simply too tired LO gets a Stage 3 jar for dinner with some Veggie Puffs.

Sippy cup with Milk before naps most days (she goes to the fridge and asks for it and says please, how can I resist?)

Still has her "sish" in her crib and LOVES it!

DS never eats or drinks organic, he has had a hot dog, chocolate and a few sips of sprite.  Pretty much anything I eat he will get.  He has offered food to our Doberman and Pit Bull and then after they have licked it he has put it in his mouth and eaten it.  He also loves to play with their toys as well.  I used to stop him and now I'm like eh he will be fine.

Yes we have a Pit Bull and Z likes to sit and hand feed her from her bowl.  Best dog ever!!!

Lots of people do rude stuff like park for sh!t and yet life goes on. When it is 100 degrees and there is no cart thing close by I don't care if I leave it. I go to this grocery store that has no cart thing and I think if they don't want them left all over they should put a few in.

Can't stand when ppl park for sh!t either.

Try parking close to the cart thing so I don't have to walk far to return it.

The stores by us do have them and it's pure lazy people who don't return them, even on perfectly nice days.

  • Well I'm going to hell - criminal to everything listed minus coffee (i know no one does it though) My DS has had everything at least once (except PB or PB&J), although it's not often by any means.... Yogurt and maybe waffles aRe organic and only if on sale. I do the daily dozens and am strict about it and his sugar intake, however I'm far from perfect and want my child to taste everything. Oh, even juice(although3/4 water diluted and it's grebe or JJ) My son knows the disney channel shows and PBS kids but we are always doing an activity together, discussing the show and dancing or singing...." It's our white noise". He's super happy, healthy, sleeps through the night, not a crier or clingy...., a total riot, typical toddler and boy.... (Guess I'm or we for that matter are doing something wrong ..... ;-) ;-)( total sarcasm))

  • He's forward facing and has been since he was been for quite some time. I don't give him organic milk. I let him watch TV when I get home from work so I can make dinner. Last night for dinner he had goldfish crackers, fruit loops, freeze dried mangoes and an applecarrot sauce pouch. Oh he also had some of my icee at a bsseball game.

  • I've offered her (and not even diluted), but she doesn't usually drink it. I definitely feel like I am more liberal with sugar than a lot of other people on here. Her yogurt is sweetened (she won't eat the plain stuff), she eats graham crackers, and I let her have bites of my treats. She still eats baby cereal and purees, although I didn't know that was frowned upon! Oh, and I let her watch some Sesame Street on most days (about 30 minutes over the course of the day). Oh, and I worry about things people say "don't worry about" - like her crawling late and not eating much.

Drinks water out of his bottle during the night (we are working on that).

    He drinks juice (50/50).

Occasionally eats sweets (cookies, a few bites of a cupcake).

Still uses a beginner sippy, no straw sippy for us!

  • DD watches Sesame Street everyday when we get home- she loves it and asks for "ELMO" everyday on the drive home.

I NEVER return carts to the cart stalls- I love when I get to the store and there is a cart waiting for me next to my spot- I assume that others like this as well.

I never tried to cloth diaper- just not my style- I am all about disposables.

Not all grocery stores have an organic produce section.

  • Good post, this is fun!  And yes, let's all remember it is FLAME FREE.  All of us live to different standards and do what is best for our own family situations.

Here are some I can think of:

--I don't buy organic veggies or fruits EVER. Way too expensive. We eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies each week, this would absolutely kill our grocery budget.

--Our son is primarily eating stage 3 foods, doesn't chew and swallow anything chunky.

--He is on toddler formula and very well may be until he is 4 or maybe 5. We don't know yet. He has an intolerance to cow's milk and soy, so so far formula is the only thing he will take. His Pedi said "keep him on it as long as he will tolerate it".

--He still gets 1 bottle and 2 full sippy's of formula per day.

--I hardly ever return the cart at the store. I don't feel like living my son alone in the back of the car while I walk around returning a cart and I am happy with it.

--My son eats spaghetti o's for dinner quite often, either this or gerber stage 3 spaghetti or chicken dinner.  Our choices in foods are limited.

OK. Ok. I apologize if came off as snarky to start attitude... really didn't mean to be.

My lil guy was forward facing a week before he was one! He HATED driving in the car and I think it's because he couldn't see what was going on.

  • DS is forward facing and has been since about 16/17 months.

He loves french fries and candy.

He not only watches tv occasionally, but he prefers Spongebob. *sigh*

He stays up late. We don't have much of a bedtime routine. DH works second shift, so we just go with the flow of things to get "family time" in.

They totally have organic frozen food at my store.

  • My kid gets fast food chicken nuggets, hot dogs, ice cream, chocolate chip cookies...not every day, but for many on here those are "NEVER".  He gets diluted juice almost daily, I give him Horizon vanilla milk boxes as a treat to keep him happy at the grocery store, the TV is on Sprout all day long on days he's home with me, I don't use a monitor and I shut the doors so I can't hear him at night unless he absolutely screams bloody murder.  There's also my previous confessions about horrible things I say to him...I could go on for hours.
