Babies: 9 - 12 Months

BINI and beccs (and other big-baby mamas)!

At the risk of sounding creepy/stalkerish, I just wanted to jump in from lurking and say that I LOVE Tino and Charlie! They are so adorable. I always think my Nathan is a big dude (we're thinking he's 25 lbs-ish now at about 8 mo) but then I read your posts and wonder what kind of massive muscles you've all managed to build!

Also, I like to make the excuse that Nathan isn't crawling yet b/c he's so big...but I wonder if he's just lazy too. He pushes up and scoots backwards but hasn't figured out how to get his hips up. He can stand but can't pull himself up. I saw the video of Charlie cruising and I'm jealous! Can I ask how Tino's doing with that?

Also, when you have to carry them for a while, how do you do it? I'm worried we've outgrown the Baby Bjorn and N doesn't have a ton of patience with the Moby but he might have to make do. I don't always want to take a stroller places!

He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

Re: BINI and beccs (and other big-baby mamas)!

  • Dash is 9 months and 30lbs. He's been cruising for almost 2 months now. And we have an Ergo, so if you want a carrier, that's what I'd recommend!

ps try lifting a friend's lighter kid, they feel like they weigh nothing! It's crazy the muscle you build lol

  • argh, I need to let Nathan practice moving more, methinks! He gets "floor time" at daycare w/the other babies but I'm not sure what exactly they do to encourage him. I'm not freaking out yet but I'm amazed to see all these other babies crawling/cruising around Smile

It's awesome to pick up other babies! They always feel so tiny to me! I always wonder if my future child(ren) will be smaller. I like to say that my baby IS my workout.

  • JBrianne- I didn't know Dash was that big. Awesome.

Eli was 27lbs at 9 months. At 10 months he is probably close to 30. I picked up a 2 year old the other day that weighed 21lbs. It was like heaven.

  • Tino is cruising. Crawling, is a completely different story. If i need to wear him, I use a BabyHawk MaiTei. He likes a backpack carry, BUT he rug burns my shoulders :)

Lol yup I think 30 puts him somewhere between Charlie and Tino? He was 9lb14oz at birth, and I'm a vegetarian so my husband likes to joke that maybe next time I should eat only meat and see if the next one comes out smaller.

We have a friend with a 3 year old that's 31lbs. And it's a huge difference picking up a toddler too, they 'help' you more if you know what I mean? Makes them seem less heavy even if they're close to similar weight.

Absolutely. Babies are like dead weight.

My thoughts exactly...I feel like I'm trying to told onto a little sack of lead sometimes. Good to hear from others!

ETA I should probably find something that I can wear on my back since I feel like the front/side carrying stuff is going to send me to a chiropractor soon.

  • So I'm (days) late to responding to this but thanks for the Charlie love! Not stalkerish at all - I love many babies on this board :) Your little/big guy is a cutie.

Charlie is pretty close to taking his first step soon I think. He stands independently and looks like he's JUST about to walk and then sits. I didn't really encourage any of the movement, he just sort of did it! He does have a 6 month older cousin that is hitting the milestones just before him so maybe that helps? He has inspiration?

Oh and we live by the ergo! Especially now in the summer on the beach!
