Pictures...what to do with them?

We sold our spare bedroom furniture to make room for baby. Under the bed I had one of those large underbid rubber, aid containers full of old pictures...FULL! There is no way on earth these will even Get looked at sitting in a box. I would like to somehow scan them all in and keep them digital. Has anyone ever done this and if so, how? We have a 3 in 1 printer but it's old and slow. Is there a place that I can take them to where I can have it done?

Re: Pictures...what to do with them?

  • Hey!  My MIL actually just did this - she used scanmyphotos dot com, LOL.  That's the real name :)

She was very happy with how it all turned out.  She had literally thousands of old pictures (I think she told me around 2,500).  She did the thing where you buy a box (I think it was just under $200) and they'll scan everything you can cram into the box onto DVD.

Not the cheapest service in the world but I can't imagine how long it would have taken her to do on her own.

If you don't have that many I know they have other options besides the big box.

(ETA: and they send all your pictures back too, my MIL was worried about that, that they'd lose, damage or throw them away, but they all came back in the same condition she sent them)

  • For my SO sister's bday her mom and dad took pics to meijer and they scaned them and put them on a disc with music and stuff.  They said it didn't cost to much. (but not sure amount)

  • I will have to look in to both places. I really dont want to spend months scanning photos even though I have nothing better to do.
