Hey ladies,
So I usually take my temp around 6, but the past few days I've woken up at 1, 3, 4, 5 and then 6. It's maddening lol I was just wondering why 3 hours is needed in order to take the temp? Is this the amount of time your body needs to regulate its basal temperature?
Also, I happened to need a general physical for a job I was just hired for (yay!) and just for the heck of it, I asked the doctor to take my temp. It was 98.7. Now I know this was in the middle of the day (around 4pm) but I took my temp before I left my apartment knowing I was going to ask this. My temp at home was 97.5. Um.. holy inaccurate! I've been using the Walgreens BBT and I think I'll be switching.
I realize that if you've been using one thermometer, even if it's a degree or so off, it would at least be consistently wrong throughout temping, but I just found this slightly frustrating since I thought I had abnormally low temps according to that BBT. Anyway, just a little FYI.
So back to my question: why the 3 hours? and if I didn't have 3 hours of sleep should I disregard the temperature taken?
Re: Yet another temp question and an FYI
Your body's temperature changes all day long depending on what you're doing. If you're just vegging on a couch you're temperature is probably going to be lower than if you're up and walking around. I don't think you're thermometer is in accurate.
Edit: Also if you end up not getting 3 hours of consistent sleep still put in the temp and mark it "Sleep Deprived".
Enter this into the "everyone is different" category, but waking up during the night does not impact *my* temperatures as long as do not get up/move around/stay awake too long. If I have a hard time getting back to sleep and my temperature is off, then I make it as an open circle.
