Re: Names on tombstones from 1800s
I noticed all the babies too
Some pretty interesting names! Thanks for sharing.
Neat, I knew a Tennyson in HS, a male.
I have a Mary (Mary Jane). And Charlotte and Josephine are on our short list.
I guess we are a retro 1800s family!
I know very fascinating. Here is the picture of the tombstone. So cool.
Hilda Inez is lovely. I wouldn't use it myself, because it has too much ethnic flare to be suitable, but it's gorgeous.
Love Sparrow. Guilty pleasure name of mine!
Wesley is nice, but I have a cousin with this name.
Lillian and Lettia are cute for twins. Nice flow, but not overly matchy.
Julia is always a nice choice.
Overall- folks in the ol' days really had some nice names!
Oooh, I like this idea! DH loves genealogy and there are several local cemeteries with his ancestors in it (been in this area for 300 years) but I usually feel left out since I know nothing about my own genealogy. All of his grandparents died long before we met, so I don't have any memories of them either, it's hard to get excited about. But, if I'm going name hunting, well, that I can get behind!
I agree !!
