How long can a formula bottle stay out

I sit for a little girl on Fridays and she is refusing to have her bottle (she usually has it at 11am) It is the powder kind. I made the bottle at 5 to 11, how long can I attempt to feed her? He mom didn't pack her an extra so I can't just dump it and give her a differant one in an hour.

TIA... I know nothing about formula, LOL

Re: How long can a formula bottle stay out

  • if it has been in the fridge right after you made it it is still fine.  if it has been sitting  out dump it.  a made bottle of formula out of the fridge only stays good for one hour.  in the fridge it is 24 hours.

  • Crap! Thanks Abpdjs
  • no problem, also it is not recommended to re-heat bottles, it can promote bacteria growth.  maybe the mom can send a spare thing of formula "just in case"  i used to do that with ds and his sitter.

  • Actually, it's one hour once the feeding starts, two if it's untouched.  It says on the label.

Ditto, if she hasn't drank ANYTHING out of it, then it's good for 2 hours.  Once her mouth has touched it, you only have an hour.
