Need reassurance-Transition to new daycare is going HORRIBLE

Please reassure me this is normal. DD and DS had been going to our previous daycare providers since they were 12 weeks old. We just switched providers and started at a new in-home daycare yesterday. They both had really hard days yesterday. DD cried for a better part of the morning and was unconsolable. DS was upset on an off throughout the day. This morning when I dropped off they both were crying. Our provider was good about it but I could tell she was stressed out by the end of the day yesterday, especially since they were both screaming when we got there to pick them up. DD is very shy and DS is going through a stage where he cries when I leave the room so this doesn't surprise me. But I need some reassurance that it wil be okay. Or any advice? TIA!

  • It will be ok...it will just take some time...we switched my girls at 15 months...ava was fine at the end of the 1st week...but for milina it took 3 full weeks before she was not crying on and off every day (she was also in a seperation anxiety phase at the time, which didn't help)...my dcp was wonderful and reassuring that it is an adjustment for everyone and it would get better...and it did - now they are happy as can be (most days)...and I have to drag them kicking and screaming to the car at pickup :)

It took DD about 2-3 weeks (but she goes to daycare part time) to really get comfy when we moved her to a new center at 16 months old.
