I am going to the doctor tomorrow but noticed a lot of sensitivity in my left breast over the past few days. Starting today, every hour my pain is intensifying and I have a lump. Did anyone experience problems with their implant afterwards? I'm also wondering if I'm just a baby or if it hurts worse than normal because there is nowhere for this lump to grow in there? I can barely hold my little pumpkin. ![]()
Re: Mastitis and breast implants?
I don't have implants, but I did have breast surgery a few years ago, and have had problems with the breast that I had surgery on. Any time you have had trauma to the breast it can cause issues while nursing.
I have had mastitis twice and had some issues with clogged ducts. And that side is extra sensitive to pumping or an improper latch. I found that with time, things improve. I didn't have any issues past 3 months with my first and I'm hoping the same thing for this time!
It sounds like you just have a clogged duct. If you had mastitis, you would have a pretty high fever, red streaks on your breast, and probably even more pain.
I feel your pain! Mastitis is the worst. I've never been so sick in my entire life. I'd rather give birth multiple times than have to go through that again!
Hope you get to feeling better soon.
Are you breastfeeding?
I too have implants and have noticed my breasts and nipples to be extra sensitive. I had a reddened area on my right breast appear and was warm to touch with pain so I went to my docs and he said it could be a blocked duct but to aire on the side of caution he put me on antibiotics for 10 days and it went away.
Just make sure the latch is good and baby empties that breast completely each time or pump it off.
Keep nursing and pumping and it will help unclog things!
