DD ate a staple UPDATED

Daycare thinks she did, at least.

Is this rush to the ER worthy, keep an eye on it, or somewhere in between?

DH is on the phone with the pedi right now.

UPDATE:  Because we could not confirm whether it was a folded or unfolded staple, the after hours nurse line from the pedi recommended getting an X-ray.  After waiting for 40 minutes, the urgent care annoyed us to know end by saying they didn't feel comfrotable handling it there and we should go to the ER.  Fortunately, we were helped very quickly at the hospital.  Nothing showed up on the X-ray, so it looks like she didn't actually eat the staple after all.  Yay.

She should be fine (probably poop in out in a day or two). Poor thing, but seriously why did they "think" she ate one and at least they told you. Geez. Poor little DD.

ugh, poor thing.  probably would depend to me whether it is used (folded in) or unused (stick out) but small enough to likely not cause any issues.  Sorry for the drama -- what a pain!

Yikes, glad she didn't really eat one and she's okay. Why do kids try to eat inanimate objects?? Argh!

I'm glad she's OK and didn't actually eat the staple. But I guess an x-ray was the way to go. ER trips are no fun no matter the urgency.

Oh the stress!!!  Glad everything turned out okay. Hopefully daycare will be more careful with anything containing staples in the future.

great news, still annoying you had to go to the ER. When I was a kid I made my brother eat a safety pin (opened), shreek.
