I know that we need to work on finding a baby sitter for DD. My sister usually does it, but she just graduated nursing school and is starting a new job in a few weeks. Now that DD is older I need to focus more on my marriage, so I'm wanting to find someone to watch DD sometimes. How did you go about finding your sitter(s)?
Re: Where did you find your baby sitter?
Our primary babysitters are my mom and my sister. However, we had a couple of babysitters we liked a lot that weren't related. One was one of DS' daycare teachers. The other was a Sunday school teacher from our synagogue. Also, the JCAA has a list of babysitters from the Jewish sororities at UT. We had better luck finding babysitters from that list during the school year.
So I would try:
1. your DD's daycare/MDO/preschool teachers
2. your church (sometimes babysitter's post on a bulletin there)
3. sittercity.com (never used them but I hear a lot of good things about them.)
4. friends who have babysitters they really like and are willing to share their contact information.
I've found babysitters through 1) my mother's friends' daughters 2) my friend's daughters 3) neighbors and 4) borrow friend's babysitters
My friends had success using Sittercity.com
ETA: I forgot a couple
We've also used my friend's mom, she's retired and likes to make extra cash. Also, ask your coworkers. We've also used DH's coworker's step-daughter.
