Rice Cereal & Bottle Nipple Size?

I know rice cereal in the bottle gets a lot of bad responses, but it was recommended by our pediatrician as one of the last steps for my LO before we do imaging on her stomach. Her acid reflux just won't respond to medicine....

Anyways, I use tommee tippee bottles and I am curious if I need to up the nipple size so that the milk will come through with the rice in it. We are doing 1 tsp of rice to 4 oz of formula.

What has worked for you?

TIA!

  • How old Is your LO? Is he/she old enough to be spoon fed instead? I used to work for a day care and a few parents had us give 1/2 oz of cerreal before a bottle to help with reflux. I also have a friend who just took a knife and made a slit in her nipples (pierce from the the inside) and just used trial and error until the hole was big enough. I think she playtex bottles though. My LO is only 2 months and I don't think she would do well with spoon fed just yet.... I guess I am nervous that I will screw up the nipple size and it will go too fast if I slit them.

I use Tommee Tippee bottles & I have heard that the variable flow nipples are good for cereal.

Didn't know that they made a variable flow nipple! I will try this out =) And also try modifying a few of my slow flow nipples to see what works best. THANK YOU!
