Rib pain while sleeping

Hi ladies,

I just hit the 24 week mark in my pregnancy and the last few days started some intense rib paid that starts in my back near my spine. It spreads out to my sides but not all the way to the front of my body. It is keeping me from sleeping. I already sleep with a pillow in between my legs to help my lower back, but I can't seem to find a position or a pillow that helps this new pain. Any recs?

Thx.

Re: Rib pain while sleeping

  • I had the same issue, but my doctor told me it was all of my organs and baby getting jammed up in there.  It really helped for me to put my arms over my head and stretch on each side.  It could be other kidney issues too (I had to get a u/s for it and urine sample) so definitely talk to your doctor about it.

  • If you are carrying high then everything is being pushed up into your rib cage.  If it only happens when you are lying down to sleep it is also possible that your DC is sliding into position and resting right on that part of the spine.

As the twins got larger, DS would push up into my rib cage and I would get pain right under the last rib up to the breast bone.  Hurt like he!!.
