Trying to Get Pregnant

SO confused by fertility friend

i started a fertility friend account, but so far have only been tracking actual bleeding/spotting. i plan to start taking my temperature in the morning, though.

i stopped taking birth control mid-pack on 6-5-11. i had what i thought was a period 6-7 through 6-8 (spotting on 6-9).

i then started what i'm sure is a period on sunday morning, 6-26 (a for real painful one with actual red blood, which i have not really seen since starting the pill over two years ago).
i had a teensy amount of spotting saturday night (i also felt sick, and got all excited, convincing myself i had the elusive implantation bleeding i hear so much about)

now, my fertility friend chart is telling me my possible fertile days are the 6-28 through 7-1?

i'm so confused. it just does not make sense to me.have i confused FF by making it think i have a short cycle?should i delete my info and start over jst using this period as my starting point?

i'm hoping once i starting taking my temperature and entering the info it will straighten things out.

any help is greatly appreciated!!

Re: SO confused by fertility friend

  • Well, since fertility friend doesn't know you it's taking a guess at what your fertile days "may" be.  You have to have 2 cycles in FF for it to get to know your cycle more.

Edit: also that's 2 cycles WITH temps not just keeping track of your period.

  • Did the bleeding you had require a pad/tampon?  You could just be dealing with a very very messed up cycle since you stopped BC mid cycle.  .

Your chart doesn't tell us anything--you have nothing entered.

  • It may take a while for your body to regulate from the lack of birth control.  I'd suggest keeping up what you are doing, and start temping.  As long as you are charting all of the bleeding correctly, FF will figure it out.

If you plan to start temping and charting the temps, you might also want to consider charting your CM and CP also.  I have been charting periods, temps, CM and OPKs.  I will start checking my CP this cycle (I have gotten a late start because I keep forgetting.)  All of these thing will help FF detect your ovulation.

Try not to get too frustrated, it will become easier... the charting that is!  Lots of luck to you!

  • Did you try to go back and change everything to make Sunday CD1 and delete the other stuff to make it just spotting? It should straighten itself out, if not, just keep temping and hopefully you can catch ovulation and get things back to normal after awhile.

  • i just realized that nothing is showing on my chart. when i look at my calender there is stiff all over the place? i guess i need to start putting in temps.

my first "period" after stopping the pill didn't require more than a few panty liners, which seemed normal because my pills gave me very light, short periods.

the one that started sunday was a full-blown period, requiring numerous tampons and hurting so much i just wanted to curl into a ball and weep.
i'd forgotten how terrible my good ol' fashioned periods could be!

You are probably right on with thinking that the short cycle may have jacked up FF's brain. Ignore the forecasted fertile days. They are crap. Go by your temps, CM, and OPK (or whatever combo of those you are going to do). After 6-7 cycles the forecasted days can be a bit more correct, but with any luck you won't get that far anyway.

If you look under the overview (should be to the right of the chart), there is a button that says cycle list. Go there and uncheck "In Stats" to toss out your last cycle.

hey i think that worked! it now forecasts fertile days as 7-6 through 7-9. thanks so much!!
