~~j*w* and eclaires~~

What time did your drive-ins start the movie? We went with our best friends (who have sons who are best friends with James) and it was so much fun but it was SO late! We didn't get home until after midnight. Thank goodness James had taken a 3 hour nap that day. The pre-gaming before the movie (with mojitos) was definitely the best part. Here is James waiting for it to start:

And after changing into pj's with his popcorn:

image It was his first ever movie in a theater, so I am glad it was such an "event" that hopefully he will remember :-) Thanks for the idea j*w*! Oh and here are all his cars lined up to watch the movie:

  • Oh my, I love those pictures!  Ok, I am paging you girls tomorrow when I get my pics d/l'd...I have a similar shot of Lightening and Mater lined up on the side of the pick up truck.  Yup, we did it up, pick up truck style!  lol  Our movie started at 9, so it was 11 or so when it ended.  The kids passed out literally 15 mins later in the back of my Highlander.  We stayed and watched the 2nd movie.  Seriously, there is just no better way to do a movie with kids say, 3 years+.  We had so much fun and I know my kids enjoyed the 'event' aspect of it too!

ETA: I feel like we might have the same car...Stick out tongue

I looooove this! Looks like he had a blast. And I love that he brought his cars to watch too. Cute!

We were in our Highlander too but decided that next time we will definitely be doing it in a pick-up (our friends we went with have a huge company one, so it would be perfect). That is definitely the way to go-I have never seen so many pick-ups in my life as at the drive-in! We decided next time there is a movie there we want to see, we should just go and put James in his carseat strapped in with headphones and his own movie on a portable player and then hopefully he would sleep after it and we could watch our movies. For $6 tickets and free for kids, you seriously can't beat it!

Just saw your ETA-too funny, yep it is the same one :)

  • My sister and BIL came in my mom's pickup truck and it was so awesome to have it there.  Last year, we put DS in his carseat when he got tired partway through 'Toy Story 3'.  Our tickets are $9 and DD was $5 since she is 5 years old (you start paying for kids 5+).  But, for 2 movies, that is a great price.
  • Butting in just to say that I love James' haircut!  He is so darn cute!

I wish C would have been old enough to enjoy all this Cars hoopla.  It isn't all that often there is stuff like this totally for the boys.  Looks like you all had so much fun!

  • it started SO late.  It was ridic.  Like 9:30/9:45.

We thought it would start earlier, b/c the website said dusk, but it was basically full dark by the time it started.

It's $7 for adults here, and kids 4 and under are free, so it was a great deal.  We ended up leaving before the 2nd movie, b/c Scarlett was not going to sleep.  If she had actually fallen asleep we would have stayed.

Our started around 9:45 too. We were definitely thinking more dusk as well, not pitch black dark. Mac was such a trooper, he nursed/slept in my lap the whole time and didn't make a peep!

And joseys-thank you about the haircut! We just did it last weekend. I had a moment of weakness and MH jumped at the opportunity and busted out the clippers. He got about halfway through and I had an anxiety attack and made him take him to a professional to finish. Ha! He looks like he is about 7 to me now :(
