Trying to Get Pregnant

Positive OPT

I am 12 days into my cycle and got a positive OPT today at lunch.  I have read the signs of ovulation and not a whole lot going on to indicate I will be ovulating in a few days.  And I didn't read the results to late and the test wasn't expired.  Anyone have knowledge of what ovulating actually feels like? Was on the pill for 12 years and have been off for 3 months now.  First time that test has come up positive so taking it as a good sign to get down to business.  :)

Re: Positive OPT

  • What else are you looking at in terms of seeing if/when you'll O?

There are a lot of women out there who don't feel it when they O.  For me, it is a sharp twinge/pinch that lasts for a few seconds and happens maybe 2-5 times

  • I don't experience ovulation pains.  Are you referring to checking your cervical fluid when you say you read the signs of ovulation?

  • I literally get no signs whatsoever...although I don't check my CM so I guess technically maybe that would be a sign if I investigated it further.  I heard it's actually pretty rare to get O pains, because they're so subtle (I may be wrong though), and the only other "signs" are EWCM and increase in sex drive.  If you are doing the OPKs and it came up positive, you will probably O within 12-36 hours based on what I've read/OB has said (although I've heard it can take up to 2-3 days to ovulate).  I would trust the test and not worry about whether you feel like you're O'ing.

  • You won't necessarily "feel" ovulation. I never do. OPTs are great to tell you when your body is primed to ovulate, but from what I've learned from the wise ladies here, only charting your BBT will tell you for sure whether you did ovulate.

I'm still early enough in this journey that I consider a positive ovulation test to be an aphrodisiac. Aw yeah. Think you're ovulating? Go get it on with the man! Not sure you are? Get it on anyway! Pretty sure you're not? Eh, what the hell, do it anyway. Wink
