DS#1 will start pre-school this fall and I'm a little nervous about it. My mom watched him until he was one and now I stay at home with him so he's never really been away from me. He is a very quiet and shy child and I want to make his transition to pre-school as easy as possible. We've been talking about pre-school some but I would like to find some books to read him so he knows what to expect. One he really likes is Llama Llama Misses Mama. Any other suggestions that deal with school or being away from mom? Thanks for the ideas!
Re: Good books about starting pre-school or being apart from mom?
My DD#1 sounds like your son. She had a hard time adjusting to preschool. Took a month of her teachers prying her from my arms. It worked out just fine and she LOVED school (still does). She had 3 years of preschool and will enter K this fall...
The only other book I can think of, besides "Llama Llama Misses Mama", is "The Kissing Hand".
GL!
Hands down my favorite:

first thing that came to mind was
Mama Llama Misses Mama
cute book
Llama Llama Misses Mama and the Kissing Hand are my favorites.
And I just wanted to add that my DS had similar troubles adjusting to preschool last fall. He can be very shy in new and uncomfortable situations. I definitely recommend visiting the school prior and really talking about what it will be like for him. It took my DS a long time to warm up, and many many months to willing pick up his name from the table without my help. The teacher got him to talk more and more over the year. Odds are he will surprise you!
