Fireworks in Kyle are set to go...

All of the fires and lack of rain already scares the bejeebus out of me and now we're going to have 4th of July fireworks? Article here

Does that mean that they will likely be selling fireworks for personal use as well? Yikes! My house backs up to a pasture, which I'm sure is bone dry. My neighbors down the street on both sides love to buy loads and loads of fireworks and set them off all night. Usually I don't mind but the drought has me in a different mindset this year. :(

  • Yea, you can still buy them... so there are going to be plenty of idiots setting them off from their homes when the ground is bone dry.  I have the same worry as you.

  • That really sucks.  Water your grass that night, for sure. Like 7 or 8 pm.

  • I heard that Kyle is still going ahead with the public fireworks show, but I haven't seen any firework stands open for people to buy for personal use.  I live in Kyle and as much as I love fireworks, don't think they should do the show and take the chance of a fire.

  • I finally went and got a safety deposit box because of the threat of wild fires. I'm going to miss the fireworks this year. I don't mind the city putting on a show, but selling them to individuals seems a little careless.

  • They banned the sale of personal fireworks in Hays County.
  • I thought most counties banned the sale of all fireworks--at least all aerial works.

Counties with bans as of Thursday 6/23:

Presidio, Midland. Andrews, Guadalupe, Tom Green, Hall, Brewster, Newton, Parmer, Stonewall, Carson, Moore, Potter, Collingsworth, Donley, Randall, Armstrong, Hartley, Gray, Castro, Knox, Wheeler, Deaf Smith, Briscoe, Scurry, Yoakum, Hutchinson, Howard, Lipscomb, Dawson, Bailey, Floyd, Bexar, Sherman, Ector, Mason, Childress, El Paso, Winkler, Oldham, Gillespie, Upton, Kent, Lynn, Garza, Menard, Glasscock, Pecos, Nolan, Hansford, Somervell, Bastrop, Ochiltree, Reagan, Sabine, Atascosa, Hemphill, Terrell, Dallam, Gaines, Lamb, Wilson, Hardeman, Swisher, Baylor, Hale, Caldwell, Martin, Val Verde, Borden, Hockley, Roberts, Reeves, Wilbarger, Taylor, Ward, Burleson, Williamson, Culberson, Burnet, Foard, McCulloch, Travis, Llano, Jones, Hays, Kerr, Hill , Kimble, San Jacinto, San Augustine, Motley, Real, Webb, Comal, Dickens, Lubbock, Uvalde, Tyler, Callahan, Jeff Davis, Shelby, Crane, Medina, Haskell, Crosby, Bandera, Bell, McLennan, Palo Pinto, Stephens, King, Fayette, Concho, Angelina, Hudspeth, Falls, Colorado, Hardin, Washington, Parker, Coryell, DeWitt, Jasper, Lee, Brazoria, Camp, Karnes, Orange, Montgomery, Harris, Bosque, Liberty, Trinity, Chambers, Jefferson, Coke, Madison, Cottle, Walker, Fort Bend, Terry, Kendall, Wichita and Waller
