Trying to Get Pregnant

This ovulating is stressful work!!

So this is cycle #2 of TTC and so far I think I am a big fat failure at it!! I had a walgreens BBT and it was the worse thing ever!!! I went to walmart saturday evening and bought a BBT from there, yeah so far I am 0/2 for temping in the morning. I just didn't remember the last two days but I am hoping to remember tomorrow morning.

I have been PIAC the last few days and dipping an OPK in it, Saturday I thought I saw a very faint line but OPKs have to be as dark or darker than the test line correct? Also I am not sure if its just the evap line or not, I am using wondfo's from amazon. But today when I PIAC the line is deffinatly lighter.

I am so worried that I won't ovulate at all, since this is the first time I have ever tried this whole TTC process it is such a scary venture. I don't think DH gets why I worry, he isn't really a worrier to begin with and since he knows little to nothing about TTC he isn't a lot of help in the calming dept. Sorry just a little vent on the long rainy monday morning!!

  • I haven't used an OPK before or done temping, so I am not sure about the "rules."  However, paying attention to cervical mucus worked for getting pregnant with #1, and I'm paying attention to it now as well.  The consistency of it when you're ovulating is like raw egg whites.  Might be worth trying if you aren't already!

  • Stop overthinking things.  You're going to drive yourself insane!  Here are some pointers:

    1. Keep a notebook and pen next to your bed (so that you can record your temps as soon as you take them - unless your thermometer remembers your last temp.  Mine doesn't.)
    2. Set your alarm clock for a time that works for you.  I temp at 5:30 every morning since that's why I get up for work.  Even on the weekends, set the alarm, wake up, record your temp and go back to bed.  That way there's nothing to "remember."
    3. This one is obvious - keep the thermometer next to the bed.  I'm surprised to hear you say you're forgetting.  It should be the very first thing you do when you get up.
    4. For the OKS - Yes the test line must be as dark or darker than the control line.  Since you're already on CD 14 (and I'm not sure how long your average cycles are but I would start temping twice a day if I were you just so you don't miss your LH surge.  Don't worry if there's only one line.  The only time there must be two lines is when you are ovulating.
    5. Relax and try not to worry.  If you've just gotten off BCP then it may take you a month or so to regulate.  Charting and posting on the boards will definately help the nerves.

Have fun and Good luck!  I hope you get your BFP soon.

  • Even if you get a + OPK it does not mean you have O'd. The only way to know if you are Oing at all is to temp. OPK is not + until the test line is as dark or darker than the control within the 5 min test time. I also use the Wondfo from Amazon. If you question a +, have some digis on hand to confirm. I don't. I let my temps do the talking.

I have a CVS BBT and have had no issues with it. I set an alarm for 5AM, wake up, and its done in about 3 minutes. I keep a pencil and notebook that is pre-dated so I just write the temp by the date and go shower/go back to sleep. The BBT saves it but I don't trust it. MH doesn't even hear it anymore.

First cycle for me off BCP was horrible b/c I had no idea what my body was or was not doing and when it was doing it. Temping actually makes me a LOT more calm about it.

GL and I hope this helped :)

    I agree!!

Also, I just started my 2nd month charting.  Woah!!  the first month was draining...I didnt O until CD25 so dont give up.(take a look) I had the same thoughts as you "am I ever going to O"..then once I O'd I was wondering if my LP was going to be long enough.  In the end everything worked out except I didnt get my BFP.

    Good luck to you!!!!!

  • I've never messed with OPKs.  They always seemed like too much extra effort for me.  I can see using them if your cycles are irregular, very long, etc. It does take a while to get into the habit of temping in the morning when you wake up, but I found temping and watching other fertility signs like CP and CM were extremely helpful in learning my body and cycles.

Like PP said, set your alarm for the same time every morning and keep your BBT next to your bed (obviously).

    Good luck.
