I've been thinking about the timing of my first pregnancy test. I'm really, really tempted to get an EPT so that I can test before we go visit DH's family for 4th of July weekend, knowing that a negative may not truely be a negative at that point. What scares me more is getting a positive but having it turn out to be a CPChemical Pregnancy but not have anyhtign come of it. Has anyone else had experience with this? How common are chemical pregnancies? I know that your chances for MC are highest just after conception and into the first trimester, but how common is it to test positive and lose the pregnancy right away?
Re: When to test
We're not TTC yet, so the only tests I've taken have been the "OMG, I'm not pregnant... am I?" kind when I thought I was late. That said, in your case, probably the only reason I'd test "early" is if I planned on drinking over the 4th of July. I'd want to know to avoid alcohol, you know?
My first pregnancy ended in a CP within days of testing. I didn't test until 18 DPO though so I was pregnant longer than I officially knew.
You can't worry about things like that, though. You'll drive yourself crazy. If you do test +, you're pregnant regardless of what could happen later that day or the next week. Enjoy the moment and celebrate!

I've had 4 BFP cycles and 2 of them were chemical pregnancies. I personally like to know about them because I think that multiple c/p might be a sign of something, so if I (God forbid) have more, I might get checked out.
I think I've read it's like 50-60% that have chemical pregnancies, but most don't even know it. https://www.babyhopes.com/articles/chemical-pregnancy.html
