just wanted to know how common implantation bleeding is? i read about it and assumed it would be something i would see. i was due for my period yesterday and have not gotten it or seen any spotting. i was planning on buying a test today and taking it tomorrow (which happens to be my birthday too!) so i don't know if i should be depending on seeing the spotting or anything. please advise. thanks!
Re: possibly pregnant
This.
From what I have read it is actually pretty rare.
Most of the time you won't know it is implantation bleeding until after the fact. This is because you can spot anytime during a cycle. I had implantation bleeding on my bfp cycle, but only knew that for sure after I got my bfp and looked at my chart. The spotting happened to coincide with my temp dip on 6DPO. The only way to know if you are pregnant is by taking a test.
HTH and good luck!
4th BFP-August 2014- Due May 12, 2015
It does happen, although it's pretty rare. Implantation usually occurs 6-7DPO. But spotting can be caused by so many things, only a test will tell.
Good luck tomorrow! And happy birthday!
It's very uncommon and can only be sort of confirmed with a BFP. There's no way to know even with a BFP if it was implantation or spotting due to normal fluctuations in hormones.
You possibly ovulated late. If you're not pregnant, I'd recommend charting your temps to get to know your cycles and reading TCOYF. There's a helpful link at the top of the board, too.
And my birthday is tomorrow as well. Hope you have a wonderful birthday

Actually, implantation occurs from 7-10DPO, but can occur as early as 5DPO and as late as 12DPO.
thanks for correcting me... clearly you know so much more than my OBGYN.
You'd be shocked how much an OB/gyn doesn't know. Sheena's right. Google it.

Sheena's right. 6-7dpo is in a perfect world where we all O on CD 14 and have 28 day cycles. As we all know, it's not a perfect world.
I didn't say she wasn't right. I said "usually." I didn't say always. Depending on your reading, it can actually happen as early as 4 DPO. When I say usually, I mean "on average."
Anyway, I was just being snarky. Sorry!
